"Protect you?" Dean asked clearly confused. "From what?"
"I don't know. She just said that it would protect me, and that I should never take it off." Alex looked away from them again.
"Dean." Sam walked over to the door and Dean followed. They started whispering to each other, so Alex couldn't hear them.
"Why don't you go check out her house. I'll stay here with her and see if I can find a girl fitting that description."
"Alright, but I don't where she even lives. It's not like I can just snap my fingers and, poof, I'm there."
"Then we'll ask her, smart*ss." Sam turned toward Alex no longer whispering. "Alex?"
"What?"
"Could you write down your address on a piece of paper?"
"Uh...Yeah, but don't you already have that information?" Alex was slightly confused as they glanced. "I mean you are cops, right?"
"We are, but the thing is we're under cover right now." Dean explained.
"Yeah," Sam added, "And our car doesn't have that equipment in it."
"Oh, okay." Alex shrugged and walked over to the night stand. She grabbed a piece of paper and started writing on it. "Here ya go." She handed the paper to them.
Dean grabbed the piece of paper and looked at the address. "Thanks. Um, he's going to stay her with you, while I go check out your house." Dean said as he pointed to Sam.
"We want to make sure that your safe, so we can't leave you alone." Sam explained to her. "You don't mind, do you?"
"No, not all. I was actually just about to take a shower."
Sam decided now would be a opportunity to ask her, "Could I use your computer for a little bit?"
Alex nodded her head. "Sure."
After she went into the bathroom with her backpack, Dean turned towards Sam. Once he heard the water running, he started talking.
"I'll check to see if her mother had a diary or something."
"Dean!" Sam said disapprovingly.
Dean rolled his eyes. "If she had a diary, maybe it'll explain what that symbol means." Sam didn't say anything in response. "You thought that I was going to let you do all of the work, didn't you?"
"Whatever. I'll call you if I find out where this girl is buried."
"Alright. Make sure that she doesn't take off that necklace." Dean warned his brother.
With that, Dean left the room and hopped into his car, then Sam closed the door behind him and set up the laptop at the table. He started doing research right away. He was looking at the different obits, trying to find a girl that fits the description. As he was looking at the a girl that came close to the description, he heard a scream come from the bathroom.
Alex ran out of the bathroom whimpering and fell on the floor, now dressed in shorts and a loose t-shirt. Sam rushed over to her side and helped her up, as she panted and winced.
"What happened? Are you alright?" Sam asked as he checked to see if she had any injuries.
"No! I'm not all right!" Alex cried.
Alex groaned, trying to catch her breath, as Sam checked the bathroom for the spirit she talked about, but didn't see anything.
"It's okay." He reassured her after he walked out of the bathroom. "Just calm down."
Alex was sitting down now on her bed. She was breathing heavily. Sam stood in front of her. "Alex, I need you to tell me exactly happened."
"Okay. I w-was done taking a-a s-shower and I w-was...um-shaving my l-legs, w-when it happened." She stuttered looking a little ashamed.
"When what happened?" Sam whispered as he crouched down in front of her.
"I...I...I shaved off my skin!" Alex pointed to her bloody ankle on her left foot.
Sam sat there with a straight face. "...Oh." He was expecting a spirit or a
demon, not this.
Alex looked up at him in shock. "OH?! What's that supposed to mean?!" She snapped. "I just shaved off my skin and I'm bleeding all over the place!"
She pointed to the floor and fell backwards groaning in pain. It was then that Sam then noticed all of the blood every where. There was a trail from the bathroom to her foot.
"Wow. Okay...um." Sam started Looking for something to stop the bleeding. "I got an idea!" He unbuttoned his shirt, took it off, and ripped off one of the sleeves. He then wrapped it around her ankle twice and tied it tightly. From experience, he knew that you had to put pressure on a wound to stop the bleeding, but that caused her to suck in a sharp breath through her teeth. "Sorry." He said as he finished off tying up her ankle.
"That'll have to do for now. I'll call Dean and tell him to buy some bandages." He said as he Lifted her legs up onto the bed. "Here. Why don't you get some rest. Okay?"
Alex sighed and winced her foot was rested on a pillow. "Yeah, okay."
After she fell asleep, Sam called Dean's cell phone and started cleaning up the blood.
"Yeah?" Dean said as he answered his phone.
"Hey could you pick up some bandages on your way back?"
"What happened? Did the spirit attack her?" Dean asked worried.
"No, I'll explain later. Can you pick it up or not?"
"Yeah, sure. Hey, did you find out anything on that dead chick?"
Sam sighed as he glanced at the still open laptop. "Not yet. I've been busy trying to calm her down. Are you there yet?"
"Yeah, but there's a car in the drive way and a cop parked out front." Dean was sitting in his car, parked a couple houses over from Alex's.
"Maybe it's her dad." Sam suggested. "Do you think that she ran away?"
"Oh yeah." Dean said as he noticed the father resting his hands on his hips as he argued with the cop. "He doesn't look too happy right now."
Sam finished cleaning up what he could of the blood on the floor. He then went over to the laptop and continued his research.
"Hey could you also pick up some carpet cleaner?" Sam said, glancing at the stain on the motel room floor.
Dean's eyes widened as he wondered what was going on. "Sam! Seriously, man. What happened?"
"It's nothing. I'll let know when you get back." Sam reassured his concerned, older brother.
Dean sighed as he watched the cop leave and Alex's father storm back inside the house. "Fine."
Sam was going through the obits and stopped when he found a perfect match. "Hey!"
"What? You find something?" Dean asked.
"I think I found out who the girl is." Sam said, looking at the computer screen and studying it carefully. "Mary Roff."
"Why do you think it's her?" Dean asked. "I mean, other then the description that Alex gave us."
"Well," Sam began, "Apparently she lived twice. Once in her own body and then in a another body."
"What? Reincarnation?" Dean suggested.
Sam shook his head. "No. In January 1878, she possessed a 13-year-old girl, Lurancy Vennum. Mary wanted to see her family again, so the Vennums let her live with them until she left in May."
"So, why do you think she's back now? I mean her family is dead." Dean said. "There's no reason for her to be here."
"Maybe she wants to meet her great-great-great-great-great-grandchildren?" Sam suggested as he glanced over to make sure that Alex was still asleep.
"How do we even know that she was really possessed?" Dean said in consideration of the time she lived in. "For all we know the girls were best friends, and so when Mary died she was at such a loss that she started acting like Mary."
"I don't think that would even be possible." Sam said as he was still reading the article.
Dean sighed as his brother shot down another suggestion. "Why not?"
"Because Mary died when Lurancy was a baby."
"Why do they think it was possession?"
"Well it says here, that Lurancy started having catatonic spells." Sam said, reading off what was on the computer. "She claimed that she would go to heaven and talk with spirits. The spells lasted for eight hours, more than once a day."
"I still don't see any hard core proof that it was real."
"The Vennums took their daughter to see..." Sam laughed a little at what he just saw on the screen. "I don't believe it."
Dean was confused at what was so funny in this type of situation. "What is it?"
