IDENTITY CRISIS CH.14

Sam, Dean and Alex were all eating lunch together in her room. Dean was eating a sandwhich while sitting next to Alex's bed, and Sam was trying to feed Hana again. Alex was sitting up in her bed eating some soup.

"Dean, seriously. I can't stand it." Alex told Dean as he took a big bite out of his sandwich. "Could you please not eat that around me?"

"Seriously?" Dean asked in disbelief while chewing.

"Yes. You know about that nightmare I had."

Sam couldn't believe she was serious. "Alex, that over seven months ago."

"I know, but it still freaks me out, ok? So, could we just drop it?"

"No. Not this time." Sam said firmly which shocked Dean. "There's obviously something that you're hidding from us. Alex, what's going on with you?"

Alex looked down at her soup. "I've been having these nightmares."

"What are they about?" Dean asked getting concerned. It reminded him of when he first found out about Sam's visions. He looked at Sam and could tell that he was thinking the same thing.

"I..." Alex paused for a minute. She didn't want to say it, but now there was no turning back. "I see people die. Every night in my dreams."

"You see people die?" Sam asked worried that what happened to him was now going to happen to her.

"Not just see it, I can feel it. All the time. From head to toe and everything in between." Alex explained to them.

Dean had set his sandwich down on her dresser, and Sam was now sitting on her bed holding Hana.

"Did you have one last night?" Dean asked curiously.

"Yes." Alex spoke softly.

"Can you tell us what it was it about?"

Alex sat there thinking about it. The dream replayed in her mind on a loop, repeating over and over. She got lost in the memory, then felt somebody shake her arm.

"Alex?" Sam said as he watched Alex come back to reality. "You ok?" The only response he got, was Alex shaking her head.

The room went quiet again and Alex still wasn't talking. It wasn't like they could just drop it now. They had to know, wanted to know, what she dreamed about.

"They're just nightmares Alex. They're not real." Dean reasured her, hoping that she would talk.

As they looked at her, they saw that she was still shaking from being outside. Her face was pale and her eyes were dark. The bruise was more visible and so was the fear in her eyes. The fear in her eyes was familiar to Dean. He had seen it before on Sam. Back when Sam was having visions and waking up in the middle of the night, he had the same look in his eyes.

Sam had also realized this and came up with an idea. "Dean. Why don't you take a walk with Hana?" Sam suggested.

Dean took Hana from Sam and held her against his shoulder. "Ok. Don't have too much fun while I'm gone."

After Dean walked out of the room, Sam turned to Alex.

"Why'd you make him leave?"

Sam sighed, looking away from Alex. "Because I didn't want him to hear what I'm about to tell you."

Alex set her soup dish on the nightstand and got ready to listen to what Sam had to say.

"Look, I know what you're going through is rough, but-"

"How could you even know?" Alex asked skeptically.

"Because I saw people die in my dreams too." Sam could tell that Alex still didn't believe that he could relate to her. "They were all murdered by something supernatural. I saw them screaming and suffering. I'd wake up at odd hours of the night covered in sweat. I'd have these terrible headaches..."

"And you can't go back to sleep, because you're afraid it will happen again." Alex finished. "You really do know."

"Yeah." Sam paused as the feeling came back to him. "I remember every time I woke up it would freak Dean out. He would get worried and I told him I was fine, just like what you're doing." Sam turns to face Alex. "But I wasn't. And I know you aren't either."

Alex nodded her head and looked down at her hands. "Do you...still get them? The nightmares?" She looked up at him, waiting for an answer.

"No." Sam said knowing that right now Alex would start to feel alone.

"How did you handle them?"

"Dean pushed me to tell him about them."

"Sounds familiar."

Sam smiled at Alex's comment. "Turns out the nightmares were visions, and they started happening during the day. We used them to save people." Sam paused for a minute. "I used them to save you, Alex. For some reason that was the only vision that I got since..." Sam paused as Alex waited patiently. "Since the yellow eyed demon died."

"When did this demon die?"

"About a couple of months before we met you. Which is why I don't understand how I had that vision of you." They both sat there silently taking it all in. "So, now that I told you all about my nightmares, can you tell me about yours?"

"Not yet. I'll wait until Dean comes back, I want him to hear about this too. He deserves to know."

Sam and Alex continued to talk about the demon and what it did to their family, and they both finished off their meals. The conversation made Alex feel more at ease even though it was a depressing topic. But knowing that somebody else went through as many losses as she had, comforted Alex. She now knew that somebody could relate to her and understand what she was going through.

As Sam was wondering about the last vision, Dean came back into the room with Hana sleeping in his arms. He lowered her into the crib and then sat back down in the same chair as before.

"So, did I miss anything?" Dean asked while resting his feet on her bed.

"No. She was waiting for you to come back, so she can tell us about her dream."

"Well I'm ready whenever you are." Dean said planting his feet back on the ground and leaning forward in his chair with his hands clasped together, ready to listen.

Alex took a deep breath, then explained her nightmare. "I dreamt that I was in a car parked in the middle of the woods. It caught on fire and I could feel the heat all around me. It was like being inside of an oven. I tried to get out, but the doors were locked. Panic and fear built up, as beads of sweat were dripping down my face. My hands got burned on the door handle, then the fire started to burn away at my clothes. And pretty soon I could feel, not only heat, but the seering pain of my flesh being burned. Then I finally suffocated to death, from lack of oxygen and woke up." Alex avoided looking at them, then said, "I know it sounds quick, but there's really no way to put in words how long and painful it really was."

"This happens to you every night?" Dean asked with shock.

"Yes. Sometimes more then once and never the same way twice."

"And you can feel it all the time?"

"It gets worse and worse. And each time it gets more vivid and painful. I'm not sure how to describe it. I don't know why, but I'm not in my body, but in somebody elses. Its like I experience their deaths for them, just so they don't feel any pain."

"Why didn't you tell us about this sooner?" Dean asked thinking that he might have been able to save these people.

"Because I thought it was just a reaction to all of those deaths. Being in that barn and seeing people that I cared about dead." Alex still wasn't able to keep eye contact with either of her cousins. "But I'm not so sure any more." She looked up at Sam and Dean and saw pity in their eyes. "And I didn't want you to look at me like that."

"Wait a minute." Dean was now starting to realize why Alex was so upset. "When you dreamt that I ate you...you could feel it, couldn't you?"

Alex looked down again and a few more tears rolled down her face. "I know it's dumb, because there's no way it could ever happen, but that dream felt so real. Everytime I see you bite down, I cringe in pain at the memory."

"He didn't swallow you, did he?" Sam asked feeling sympathy for her.

"Not whole." Alex answered implying what really happened.

Dean was in shock by Alex's statement. "You mean, you could feel me...?" He didn't want to say the words and was thankful that Alex understood him.

She slowly nodded her head crying. "Yes."

"Alex, I never would have teased you about it if I had known."

"I know, but I was afraid to tell you. I was afraid that you would get angry, which would cause another nightmare. So, by ignoring it and trying to push the memory away, I was hoping that I could stop it. You know, just try to prevent one more nightmare from happening?"

"Does Kyle know about these nightmares?" Sam asked.

"No...Well yes, but not in detail." Alex explained.

"I think you should tell him. He should know about this, Alex." Sam told Alex, but she stayed silent.

"Alex? What is it?" Dean asked concerned.

Alex started to cry again with a tear drop landing in her soup. "Why is this happening to me?"

Sam and Dean exchanged looks and didn't know what to say.

IDENTITY CRISIS CH.13

"How could he not know?" Dean said pacing past Sam and Hana in the hallway.

"I don't know. Maybe we should discuss this in the room, before you start bothering the neighbors." Sam said as he walked into Alex's room.

Dean followed Sam into Alex's room, where they saw her laying in her bed, sleeping peacefully.

"It's hard to believe she's actually sick." Sam then placed Hana into her crib. "Hey, weren't you supposed to go out with Morana like two nights ago?"

Dean stood there thinking about it for a minute. "Huh. Oh well, guess I have to reschedule." Dean went into the bathroom, to get himself a glass of water.

"You can do that after you find Maz." Sam said standing in the door way.

"You know Sam, I'm starting to feel like I'm doing everything on this case, while you just sit around..." Dean trailed off and got a confused look on his face. "What is that smell?" This time he was disgusted.

"Alex threw up in the trash can." Sam answered plainly.

"And what did you do with the can?" Dean asked worried, then Sam pointed to the shower curtain. "What's the matter with you?!"

"Will you calm down? You're going to wake up Alex and Hana." Sam whispered.

"Dude, you can't just put that in the bathtub!" Dean hissed, taking what Sam had just said into consideration. A swift hand came up to cover his mouth as Dean's gag reflex reacted. "Ok, you know what?"

"What?" Sam asked annoyed with an eye roll.

"The dumpster. You take it down to the dumpster real quick, while she's sleeping and I'll go find Maz." Dean didn't give Sam a chance to argue, as he quickly walked out of the hotel room.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Dean walked down the hallway to the lobby. On his way there, he past a man with a towel hanging over his shoulders. Dean figured that the guy must have come from the pool, because he had water dripping off of him. After he past the guy, Dean saw Angela at the front desk. Morana handed her a new room key, then Angela turned around and saw Dean.

"What? You didn't trust me?"

"No, I just came down here to kick somebodies a**. Unfortunately it wasn't yours." Dean smirked at her, then walked up to Morana.

"Come to apologize?" Morana asked crossing her arms.

"That and I need to talk to your boss about something."

"Well he's busy at the moment-"

"Its urgent." Dean interrupted her with an insistent look on his face.

Morana sighed and looked at a door behind her. "He's in his office. I'll let him know that you want to talk." She walked over to the door and knocked on it.

After a couple of minutes, Maz came out of his room. "I told you not to bother me."

"I know, but a guest wants to talk to you." She pointed to Dean, who waved at Maz.

"What do you want?" Maz asked expecting to hear the worse.

"I just want to talk." Dean shrugged.

"Fine. Come into my office." He held the door open for Dean, as he walked in.

When Dean came into the room he was surprised to see bouquet of flowers sitting on the desk.

"Those are from my parents." Maz walked over to the desk and sat down. "Sorry about the mess. Things have been a little crazy lately." He drifted off as he was looking at the flowers.

Dean was still standing and walked over to the desk. "Busy killing people?"

"What?!" Maz asked appalled at the notion.

"You heard me." Dean said sternly and whipped out his gun.

"Whoa! What are you doing?! I didn't kill anybody!" Maz said holding his hands up in surrender.

"Oh really?" Dean walked closer to Maz, still aiming his gun at him. "All those people dying in your hotel and you not giving a cr*p about them, that's supposed to be normal? And the all those sarcastic comments about their deaths."

"That's what this is about?!" Maz let out a small laugh. "You've got to be kidding me!"

"Oh, I'm not kidding."

Maz was silent for a minute then looked back at the flowers. "Look...I can't handle all of this right now."

"Handle what?" Dean asked suspiciously.

"These deaths! Alright?" Maz paused trying to calm down. "I know she would be disappointed in the way I've been acting, but I can't help it. It's like something is controlling me and I can't stop it."

"Who would be disappointed?" Dean asked wondering if it had to do with the situation.

"...My girlfriend, Cindy. She died three weeks ago. The cancer finally caught up to her." Dean lowered his gun and realized that he made a mistake.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

A few minutes after Dean left, Sam finally worked up the courage to pick up the trash can from the bathtub. Before he left, he glanced over at Alex to make sure that she was asleep. Sam walked out of the room and headed downstairs. On his way down, he passed a man with a towel resting on his shoulders. Sam continued going down and the man continued going up.

The man walked up to his room on the third floor. After he unlocked his door, he walked inside his room and headed for the bathroom. Once there, he threw his towel on the on the floor and walked over to the sink. He looked in the mirror and noticed that he had a little stubble. He reached down for his razor, but didn't find it. As the man was looking for his razor, the door creaked open. He was too busy to notice the noise, then he finally found it.

The guy carefully started shaving, and a dark figure walked over to him. He looked down to rinse off his his razor, and when he looked up, he saw a woman with a black hood smiling at him.

"What the...?" The man didn't get a chance to react, because the woman wrapped her arm tightly around his neck.

The man gripped at her arm and tried pulling her off. His struggles only caused her to squeeze tighter, she pulled his head back and grabbed his razor. She quickly swiped the razor clean across his neck, cutting his throat. She removed her arm and washed off the blood from leather gloves.

The man started choking on his blood and fell to the floor. Blood was pooled in the white sink, splattered on the mirror and smeared on the floor. The woman kicked the man hard in the head and watched as his body went limp, collapsing on the floor.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

As Sam walked to the stairs, he met up with Dean. "Hey, how'd it go?"

"It wasn't him." Dean started walking up the stairs and Sam followed him.

"But what about all those things you said-"

"Trust me. It wasn't him." Dean interrupted Sam and they continued going up the stairs.

"So now we're back to square one?"

"Yeah, it looks like." Dean sighed and the walked through the door. As they walked to Alex room, Dean noticed a door was open down the hall. "Hey. Check it out."

Sam looked in the direction that Dean pointed, and saw the same thing. They both walked down the hall and Dean pulled out his gun again. Dean walked into the room first and saw a man covered in blood, laying on the floor. As Sam checked for a pulse, while Dean scanned the room to make sure the killer was gone.

"Well, it looks like Sweeney Todd is gone." Dean said walking back over to Sam.

Sam sighed at his brother's remark and stood up. "He's dead. Who ever is doing this knows that we're on to them. That's why they did it during the day."

"The question is: who?"

They both walked back to Alex's room and saw Hana still sleeping, but Alex was missing.

"Not again." Dean groaned and started checking the balcony.

Sam walked over to the bathroom and saw that it was closed. "Alex?"

"What?" Alex opened the door and was still shaking a little.

As she took a step forward, Sam noticed that she was a little wobbly. "Whoa!" Sam grabbed Alex, before she fell to the floor. "Alex, what were you doing? You shouldn't be walking around in your condition." Together they walked back to the bed, and Dean walked over to them.

Dean crossed his arms in disappointment looking at Alex. "What was so important that you had to scare us like that?"

Alex weakly laughed as she climbed into bed. "Alright, fine. Dean, the next time I have to use the bathroom, I'll let you know."

"You...oh." Sam said realizing what Alex meant.

"Yeah, you're on your own with that one." Dean replied.

IDENTITY CRISIS CH.12

The roads were slick, covered in ice and snow. The wind was blowing harder and the snow was coming down faster. If it wasn't for the heat in his car, Kyle would have been in worse shape then Alex.

He drove carefully, which meant he had to go slow. The slower he went, the safer he would be. The quicker he went, the sooner he would be with his new family. Every time he would press on the gas a little harder, he would reason with himself, "If something happened to me, Alex would have to raise Hana alone and I would never get to see my daughter. I have to go slow no matter how much I want to be with them." That was what kept Kyle going and driving safe. He couldn't stand to see Alex in more pain. The thought of her being all alone for the rest of her life, was too heartbreaking for Kyle. "She's been through so much pain." Kyle thought to himself. "I can't let her suffer any more. I just can't."

As he was driving, he remembered something that Alex didn't mention in the voicemail. "Alex didn't mention Brad at all. Which means he never made it. She was all alone with the curse." He said out loud. "Sh*t!" He banged the dashboard with his fist. "That idiot! I'm gonna kill him! He was supposed to watch out for her! I can't believe this!"

Knowing that he couldn't be with Alex at all times, Kyle had called Brad. He told his brother to stay with Alex while he was at work. Although, Brad didn't know about Alex's curse, but he agreed to come any ways. The thought of not leaving a pregnant woman by herself was understandable to Brad. So Brad had told Kyle that he would take the next flight out, but Kyle hadn't heard from him since.

Kyle started looking around his jeep for something. His hand was wondering around aimlessly, while his eyes were glued to the road. With no luck, Kyle decided to look down and try to find his cell phone. When he finally found it, he looked up and saw that he was headed for a ditch. He tried to swerve his car back onto the road, but it was too late. Kyle quickly pressed on the breaks and his car came to stop in the middle of a ditch. "That's just great." Kyle stated sarcastically. "Could anything else go wrong?!" Kyle yelled in anger.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Sam was helping Alex drink the hot chocolate. He held a straw for her so she could drink it while she was laying down. Then he heard Hana start to cry. He walked over to her crib, picked her up and cradled her in his arms. He grabbed one of the chairs and dragged it over to the side of Alex's bed. After he was sitting down he started to feed Hana from the bottle. He slowly tilted it for her as her head was resting on his elbow.

"H-How is she?" Alex whispered, voice still hoarse.

Sam looked at Alex's tired eyes. "She's good." He saw a tear run down Alex's face again. "You'll get better soon. I promise."

Alex faced the ceiling and Sam went back to feeding Hana. Her tiny arms and hands tried to grab onto the bottle. Sam watched her as she drank away the warm milk with her tiny legs crossed at the heals. Once she was full, Sam set the bottle on the nightstand and put her back into the crib. Sam pulled the blanket up and tucked her in, so Hana and Alex were both bundled up in blankets.

As Sam walked back over to his chair he noticed that Alex was still shaking. So, he went into the bathroom to retrieve the warm washcloth. After Sam was sitting back down in his chair, he went back to stroking Alex's forehead.

"What d-did I do wrong?" Alex whispered.

"Nothing. Things some time just happen and there's nothing we can do stop it." Sam said not sure if he believed what he had just said.

Alex and Sam both went silent for a while. Every time Alex would shut her eyes, Sam would tap her face to wake her back up. "Alex, you need to stay awake so the doctor can examine you."

"I'm s-so t-tired." Alex said weakly.

"I know you are. You can rest later, ok?" Sam waited for an answer, but Alex didn't respond. "Alex?" Sam asked when he saw her tense up and her eyes go wide. "What's wrong? Speak to me."

Alex quickly sat up in her bed, which made Sam a little nervous.

"Whoa, you need to take it easy. Dean's getting the doctor and they're on there way here." Sam assured her.

Sam tried to push Alex back down, but realized what she wanted when she pointed to the trash can.

"Oh! Yeah, of course. Here." Sam said reaching for the trash can. He got up and was about to hand it to Alex, but she quickly bent over the edge of the bed. When Sam heard a noise that he didn't want to hear, he quickly looked up and pulled Alex's hair back for her without looking. With one hand holding the trash can and the other holding Alex's hair, Sam couldn't help but start to feel queasy.

After a long awkward moment for Sam and a lot of throwing up from Alex, she finally relaxed.

"Are you done?" Sam asked afraid to look down, but he did any ways.

"Yeah." Alex replied. "I th-think so."

"I'll get you a glass of water." Sam walked into the bathroom with the trash can and set in down in the bathtub. He closed the shower curtain and washed his hands, then filled up a glass with water. When Sam walked out he saw Alex looking some what guilty. "What?"

Alex looked down at her hands. "I-I'm sorry."

Sam couldn't help but laugh at the way Alex was acting. "Don't worry about it."

Right as Sam was about to walk back over to Alex, there was a knock at the door. Sam opened the door to let in Dean and the doctor. Dr. Williams had a small black bag with him, which he set down on the bed next to Alex. Once he started examining her, Sam picked up Hana and walked into the hallway with Dean.

"She looks terrible." Dean said feeling bad for Alex.

"Yeah, well she probably feels ten times worse than she looks." Sam said while rubbing Hana's back.

"How's the Squirt doing?" Nodding his head towards Hana.

"She's fine, I just fed her. So do you have any leads on-"

"So that's the crying culprit." Angela said walking past Sam and Dean and stopped in front of the door which was next to Alex's. "About time you finally got that thing to shut up." She said as she got out her room key from her purse. As she slid the key into the lock, a hand quickly grabbed the door knob. Angela looked up and saw Sam and Dean both glaring at her.

"Excuse me. I'm sorry, but she's not a thing, she's a baby." Dean said clearing disgusted with her choice of words. "She has feelings and most importantly a name." Dean was still holding the door knob.

"Let me guess. It's Cry Baby?" She said with a smirk.

"Look, if you have a problem with her crying, then why don't you ask the manager for another room?" Sam said irritated.

"Oh don't worry. I just filed my complaint to the manager, and he said that they would pay for my entire stay." She said with another smirk.

"Listen if you have a problem with her, then you have a problem with me. And lady, trust me when I say this. You do NOT want to have a problem with me." Dean said letting go of the door knob and walking away.

"I'm sorry was that a threat?" She asked folding her arms. "I know for a fact that a cop is staying here. And I would have no problem to go, find his room, and tell him that I'm being harassed."

Dean and Sam stopped dead in their tracks and looked at each other before they turned around.

"You know what? You're right." Dean said with a smirk looking at her. "I shouldn't have threatened you. But you see the thing is," Dean took a few steps closer to her. "She's my family and I'm not gonna let anyone hurt her in any way. Even verbally. So if you want to complain, go ahead." He was now standing a few feet in front of her and still walking. "Of course it would be a shame if you couldn't get out of your room or the stairs were blocked. You know the phone lines are down, the elevators don't work. You're stuck here b*tch." Dean was now standing in front of her and looking down at her, using his size to intimidate her. "So you better shut up, go back inside, take off your wig and mask, and soak yourself in some sewage. Or if that doesn't satisfy your need to be a cold hearted b*tch that hates children, then you can try to get the cop and call her more names. I say try, because there is no way that I'll let ANYONE call her a 'Thing' and get away with it. You're messing with the wrong family lady and it's too late to apologize. So you might as well turn around and go back down those stairs and get another room, or I'll do it for you. Now which is it going to be?"

Angela looked up at Dean, then looked at her door knob. She pulled the key out and walked away down the stairs.

"Can you believe her?" Dean said still looking at the stairs. "Why didn't the manager move her room? He knows that we're all gonna be stuck here for a while."

"Unless he likes watching people suffer." Sam said sharing a theory that just came to mind. "Maybe even kill them too."

"You know when I told him about the guy that hung himself, Maz didn't care about it. He said that people should wait for what fate had in store for them." Dean explained to Sam. "Maybe Maz had something planned for this guy, but because he hung himself, he never got a chance to go through with it."

"Sounds good, but what about the woman we saw on the tape? There's no way that that was a guy."

"No, but I know how it could have been."

"Shapeshifter." They both said at the same time.

"So he stays as the manager during the day and night he turns into a woman to kill people." Sam thought out loud.

"Which is perfect in case he ever did get caught killing somebody. It's the perfect alibi, and there's no way a cop will have silver bullets."

"Cop shoots him, shifter gets mad, then kills him." Sam finished.

After they figured it all out, the doctor came out of the room.

"How is she?" Sam asked concerned about Alex again.

"She has hypothermia. You two are lucky you found her when you did, she wouldn't have made it." He was about to walk away, but remembered something. "I almost forgot. She should take two of these before she goes bed." He said handing Dean a bottle of pills. "It won't cure her, but it will help. As soon as you can get her out of here, take her to a hospital."

"What happens if we don't get out of here in the next few days?" Sam asked worried.

"I'd pray for a miracle."

Not really wanting to know the answer, Dean asked, "How much longer do you think she can be like this?"

"Honestly?...I don't know. I'm sorry." He walked away and everything was silent.

IDENTITY CRISIS CH.11

Alex looked up and saw a blurred dark figure wiping something warm across her head. She heard muffled and distorted sounds coming from the dark figure. Who ever it was, they were trying to talk to her. Alex tried to talk, to call for help. Her mouth opened, but all that came out was her cold breath, rising through her throat and past her lips. After her second attempt to talk, she saw a second figure lean in closer to her. "They're going to kill me." Alex thought to herself.

The second figure made some small movements, then she saw what looked like an arm coming right at her. She tried to move, tried to get away, but she couldn't. The muscles in her body were too weak to move. Alex had no other choice, but to watch as the arm came closer. "No. Please? Don't kill me." Alex thought with a tear rolling down her cheek.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Dean stopped moving his hand when he saw a tear run down Alex's cheek. He looked into her half open eyes and could see her fear. "Alex?" Dean said more softly then before.

"Alex we're not going to hurt you." Sam reassured her. "We're trying to help you." Sam said as he wiped her tear away with his thumb. As he did this, he felt Alex wince in pain. Sam lightly brushed her hair out of her face revealing a darkened purple mark that stretched from her eye to her cheek.

After seeing the bruise Sam and Dean exchanged worried glances. The mark proved that Alex didn't fall, but she was attacked.

"Alex, who did this to you?" Dean asked.

They both sat there and watched as Alex struggled to talk. Although her voice was scratchy, Sam and Dean were glad that she was able to talk...or at least try to.

"I...I d-d..." Alex murmured in a stutter.

"Ok, why don't we get you out of here and dry you off first. Does that sound good?" Dean asked and saw Alex slowly nod her head. "Ok."

Sam got up and grabbed the towels off the rack and layed one on the ground.

Dean slides his left arm under Alex's legs and slid his other arm under her back, which caused another wince of pain. He lifted her up and water started to lightly pour, then drip off of her. Dean carried her over to the towel and layed her down. Sam handed Dean a towel and they started to dry her off. She was still wet, so they used a hairdryer to dry off her clothes most of the way and dry her hair.

"Alex, are you still with us?" Sam asked looking at Alex, while Dean finished drying her off.

"Y-y...Yes." Alex stuttered out in a hoarse whisper.

"Good. I'm going to carry you to your bed now, alright?" Sam informed her.

Alex nodded her head, then Sam picked her up and carried her out of the bathroom. Dean pulled her clothes off the bed and pulled back the one blanket that was left on her bed. Once Sam had her body over the bed, he lowered her down, making sure her head rested on the pillow. When Sam pulled his arm out from under Alex's back, part of her shirt lifted up. The skin on her side was the same shade of purple as her face.

"Dean." Sam said getting his brother's attention. "Look at this."

Dean walked over to his side and bent over to get a better look. There was various bruises all over her side and they saw a few leading to her back.

"Alex, we need to look at your back, ok?" Sam asked her.

"O-ok." Alex whispered weakly.

They both carefully placed their hands on her side and rolled her a bit.

"Oh my God." Sam whispered in shock at what he saw.

Half of Alex's back was covered in bruises.

"I'm gonna kill the son of a b*tch that did this." Dean growled.

Sam saw something odd, so he leaned in closer to get a better look. "Hey, do you see that?"

"What is that? A shoe print?" Dean said squinting his eyes a little.

Sam got out his cell phone and took a picture of the mark. When he was done, they layed her back down. After they layed her down, Sam and Dean pulled the last blanket left on the bed up to her neck. Dean picked up the blanket off the floor and layed it on top of her, while Sam grabbed the one that was on Hana.

Hana's baby blanket was warm again, so he took the bigger blanket off of her when he had put her back into the crib. Dean helped Sam put the last blanket on top of Alex. Alex was now nicely bundled up, but she was understandably shivering.

"I'm going to find that doctor. Maybe there's something he can do for her." Dean whispered to Sam.

"Ok. I'll stay here and..." Sam trailed off when he head Alex make a noise.

"M-murder." Alex whispered.

"What did you say?" Dean asked walking over to Alex.

"M-murder me." She whispered again.

"Nobody is going to murder you. Don't worry." Dean assured Alex. "Your throat sounds really dry, maybe we should get you something to drink before we get the doctor."

"O-ok."

"How about a nice hot chocolate milk. Would you like that?" Dean asked with a smile.

Alex smiled a little and nodded her head.

"Ok. Sam?" Dean asked turning towards Sam. "Could run down to the cafeteria and get a couple of hot chocolate milks. Oh and, uh, get yourself a little something too while you're at." Dean said with smirk.

Sam glared at Dean, "I'll go, but only because she's sick." Sam stops as he's walking towards the door. "Oh and don't forget, Hana needs her breakfast." Sam said with a smirk tossing the warm washcloth over to Dean. "There's a bottle in the fridge, just warm up." Sam then left the room.

Dean faced back to Alex and started stroking her head with the warm cloth. "Do you remember who did this to you?"

Alex thought about it and tried to remember. "Cell ph-ph-phone."

"Where's your cell phone?" Dean asked, wondering if that's what she meant. "I set it on the dresser."

"N-No. B-Bal-c-cony l-ledge." Alex said shakily pointing towards the balcony.

"Ok, ok, ok. Just take it easy." Dean said as he gently grabbed her arm and lowered it back down. "So, let me see if I get this right. Your cell phone fell off of the balcony ledge?"

Alex nodded her head.

"Then you went to get it and somebody attacked you?"

"I d-don't remember." Alex whispered looking scared.

"It's ok, we'll figure it out." Dean noticed the rag was getting dry and cold. "I'm gonna soak this in the sink with warm water, then I'm gonna feed Hana. I'll be in here the whole time if you need anything."

Dean got up and walked into the bathroom leaving Alex all alone. She heard the water running and started to drift into a daze. Random images started running through her head. They were from her nightmares. She had to make them go away. If Dean or Sam noticed, they would start asking questions. Questions that she wasn't ready to answer. She closed her eyes and counted to ten in her head.

When Alex opened her eyes the room was empty and quiet. She had this feeling, like something was wrong. Then she heard a door knob turn followed by the sound of footsteps. She started to panic a little, remembering the woman in the cloak. Her fears were realized when she saw a shadow moving by the door. As the figured stepped into view, she saw the same long black cloak. The hood was covering the person's face as they walked over to Hana's crib.

"No." Alex whispered with her eyes watering up.

The figure looked up at her with an evil smirk. Then Alex saw an icicle in their hands and they lowered it into the crib. Hana's crying had stopped. "NO!" Alex screamed as loud as she could.

The noise caused the figure to pull the red icicle out of the crib and run over to Alex. Her heart skipped a beat as the figure came closer to her at an alarming pace. She tried to move, but her muscles were still too weak. When they came up to her side, Alex recognized who it was. The person that was trying to kill her was Dean, and he was still coming at her.

"HELP!" Alex screamed causing her throat to ache in pain.

Dean put his hand over her mouth to get Alex to stop screaming. After he removed his hands he saw tears running down Alex's face.

"P-Please d-d-don't k-kill me." Alex cried weakly.

"Alex, it's just me. I'm not going to kill you or hurt you." Dean looked at Alex worried and confused. He didn't know what was going on with her, but he could tell that she was afraid. She was afraid of him. He looked into her eyes and saw that she was staring at his hand. When Dean looked down, all he saw was the baby bottle. "This? Is this what you're afraid of?" Dean asked holding up the bottle.

All of a sudden Sam came into the room with three chocolate milks. He looked a little worried, but sighed with relief when he didn't see anything wrong.

"What happened?" Sam asked sounding out of breath. "I heard her calling for help."

"I don't know. I was just about to pick up Hana, then she started yelling and panicking." Dean explained, then looked at Alex. "I think she's hallucinating."

"Dean, get that doctor." Sam said while looking at Alex's sweat covered face. "I have a bad feeling about this."

Dean hurried out of the room to find the doctor, leaving Sam alone with Alex and Hana.

IDENTITY CRISIS CH.10

"Did you find anything?" Sam asks as he meets Dean inside his room.

"No. The first three floors are clean." Dean replied. "I don't get it. Shouldn't it have killed somebody by now?"

"Maybe whoever is doing this knows that we're onto them. I mean we've searched this hotel up and down and didn't find anything. Maybe its all over with." Sam suggested.

"I guess we'll just have to wait until the morning to find out." Dean said as he started taking off his coat and shoes. "If its not over, then somebody else dies and we're still no closer to killing the d*mn thing."

"Which is another problem, to figure out how to kill it." Sam let out a sigh.

"Why don't we sleep on it. Then tomorrow, hopefully, we'll get some answers."

"Yeah, alright." Sam said with a sigh, while walking to his room.

The next morning Sam woke up first and took a shower, before he went down to Alex's room to get Hana.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

"Hey! Excuse me! Can you get your baby to stop cryin'? I'm trying to sleep here!" The woman from New York yelled, while banging on Alex's door.

"Yeah, and so are we." The man, who was also from New York, yelled. He was standing in his door frame with a tall thin woman with short brown hair, who was wearing a red laced slip. "Right now, I'd rather hear that baby cry, then your bangin' on the door."

"Aww. I'm sorry, does little brothuh have a hangovuh?" The woman said in a mocking tone.

"No. I can control my drinkin', unlike you apparently." He says as he's about to close the door.

The woman was now frustrated and turns towards her brother. "What's your problem? This doesn't involve you!"

A few doors between them, a man walked out of his room. "Excuse me, could you guys keep it down out here?" He asked a little sheepishly. "I haven't had a decent nights sleep-"

"Shut up!" Both of the New Yorkers yell, causing the man to creep back inside his room, rather quickly.

Sam had heard some people yelling as he came down the stairs. Then he came through the stairwell door and saw a woman pounding her fist on Alex's door.

"Whoa. Hey, what's going on here?" Sam said running in front of the woman to get her to stop making noise.

"This woman, who apparently sleeps like a rock, has been lettin' her baby cry for the past five hours non-stop. Some of us need our beauty rest."

"Like it would do you any good." Her brother yells at here.

"Shut up, Ricky!" The woman hears the baby cry again. "Arrr! If you don't do somethin', I'm going to call child services on her." She said looking up at Sam with her hands on her hips.

"Alright, alright, alright. Just calm down." Sam said getting irritated with this woman that he just met. "She's a new mother, she's still trying to get a hang of things. I'll take care of it."

"Yeah, well she should do it somewhere else." She said folding her arms. "Like at a house, like normal people do."

"Angela! Leave the man alone! He said he would take care of it!" By now Ricky had walked up to his sister and grabbed her arm. "I'm sorry about her." Ricky said, while dragging Angela away from the door.

"Don't talk about me like I'm a child!" She said struggling in his grip.

"Will you just shut the h*** up?!" He said as he pushed her towards her door.

Sam watched as they both slammed their doors shut, all the while wondering why Alex was letting Hana cry for five hours. He reached into his pocket and quickly unlocked the door. Once Sam got inside, right away he noticed that the room was cold and he saw a sheet from Alex's bed on the floor. Now worried, Sam looks over at Alex's bed to find it empty.

"Alex?" Sam yelled wondering where his cousin was.

He noticed that the bathroom door was closed, so he knocked a few times before he opened it. Panic started to rise as he saw the empty bathroom.

"Alex!" Sam yelled hoping that she would respond to him. The only response he hears is Hana's crying. "Hana." Sam said as he rushed over to her crib.

He was about to pick her up, but he saw something move in the corner of his eye. As he turned his head, he saw that the sliding glass door was wide open, causing the red curtains to blow in the wind. He ran over to the balcony and walked through the snow that had blown through the door.

Sam walked out onto the balcony hoping to find Alex, but once again he found nothing. Suddenly a horrible thought entered Sam's head. "Oh no." He looked over the edge of the balcony, thinking that Alex had fallen, but he didn't see anything. All he could see was snow, so he couldn't tell if he was right or not.

"Hey, Sam, where's the cof...fee..." Dean asked trailing off as he entered the room. "What happened?"

"I don't know." Sam said walking back into the hotel room and closing the door.

"Where's Alex?" Dean asked worried.

"I don't know!"

Dean noticed that there was snow in the room and realized that the balcony door was open all night. "Do you think she fell?"

"I said I don't know!" Sam yelled irritated with Dean. As they both glared at each other, they were interrupted by Hana's crying. Sam quickly got over his anger and picked up Hana, as Dean walked out onto the balcony. He looked down and noticed that the snow was higher up in the area under Alex's balcony, then all the other rooms.

"Dean, she's really cold." Sam said holding Hana's head against his shoulder.

"Here." Dean rips a blanket off of the bed and rushes over to Sam. "You watch Hana. I'm gonna go find Alex."

After Dean handed over the blanket, he ran out of the room and down the stairwell. He shoved the door opened and ran over to the spot that was under Alex's room. At first Dean couldn't tell if there was anything there, but then he noticed that the ground wasn't level. Dean fell to his knees and started to dig a hole in the snow. His cold fingers brushed up against something solid. As he pulled more snow away he realized that it was an arm. Dean moved to where he thought her head would be and started to dig. It didn't take long for Dean to hit her face with the tips of his fingers. He started brushing the rest of the snow off of Alex's pale face.

"Alex, can you hear me?" Dean asked with worry and panic in his voice. After he didn't get an answer, Dean uncovered the rest of her the best that he could. "I'm gonna get you outta here. Don't worry." Dean said as he picked her up in his arms with her head resting on his right shoulder. He held her close, to warm her and himself up.

Alex's right arm was limp and hanging to her side swinging as Dean ran up the stairs. Dean kicks the door open still holding Alex in his arms. At this point Dean didn't care about anything, other than his cousin's health.

"Sam! I found her!" Dean yelled as he walked towards Alex's door.

Sam rushed over with Hana wrapped up in the blanket in his arms. "Set her on the bed." Sam said as Dean walked into the room.

Dean rests Alex on the bed and starts to take off her layers of shirts, leaving on the last one. "Fill the bathtub up with warm water." He said as he pulled off Alex's socks. He had to take off as much of the cold clothes that he could to help warm up her blood stream.

"Alright." Sam said as he went over to the bathroom. "You should check her pulse."

Dean rests his hand on Alex's neck and tried to feel her pulse. "It's weak. Hey, make sure that water isn't too warm."

"Why?" Sam asks walking out of the bathroom to see Dean.

"We have to be careful or else her heart could fail on her."

"How do you know this?"

"I saw it in a movie once."

"That makes more sense now." Sam said then went back into the bathroom. "The water is ready."

Dean picked up Alex and walked her into the bathroom. Sam backed out of the bathroom and watched as Dean carefully lowered Alex into the bathtub.

"Come on, wake up. You gotta wake up for me Alex." Dean commands her frantically. "Come on, come on, come on." He says while shaking her a little. "D*mn it Alex!"

"Anything?" Sam said, while coming back into the bathroom holding Hana on his shoulder.

"No, not yet." Dean says and looks up at Sam. "How's Hana?"

"She's starting to warm up a little. I think she'll be fine."

"That's good."

Sam decided to place Hana back into her crib, then he came back into the bathroom.

"Come on Alex, you can do it. Just wake up for me, please? Alex?" Dean says while patting her face. He starts to get more scared, because she still doesn't respond. "Alex!"

Sam grabs a rag off of the counter and runs it under warm water. He sits on the toilet seat and starts to gently rub the cloth across Alex's forehead. "Maybe you should check her pulse again." Sam suggested.

Dean checks her pulse. "Her pulse is getting stronger."

"Alex?" Sam asks trying to wake her up. "Alex you have to wake up for us. Hana needs you."

After they didn't get a response, they both got more worried. "This isn't good." Dean said running his hand through his hair.

"Dean, she probably needs to be hospitalized." Right after Sam said that a miracle happened.

Alex let out a small cough and her eyes flutter open just a crack.

IDENTITY CRISIS CH.9

Dean walked outside and saw a couple of footprints leading up to where the body must have been. He started scanning the area, but found nothing with the EMF reader. He put it in his pocket then something caught his eye. There was an icicle that was partially sticking out of the ground. At first he figured that it had fallen off of the building, but when he looked up there was nothing that there. The icicle was out of place, which meant one thing to Dean. He knelt down and pulled the icicle out with his glove covered hands, and revealed that the icicle was covered in blood. The hole that it came from also had blood in it.

After Dean was done scanning the other sites where people had died, he went back to Sam's room and told him what he found.

"So there was no EMF anywhere?" Sam asked.

"No. The place is clean." Dean sighed as he tossed his EMF reader in his bag.

"So that rules out spirit and demon."

"I'm not so sure about demon, but there's definitely no spirit here." Dean said while sitting down on Sam's bed.

"So we have to be ready for anything tonight." Sam said while checking up on Hana, who was asleep in her crib.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Later that night Sam and Dean put Hana back into Alex's room for the night. They had tried to let her sleep with them the first night, but Hana cried for her mother. At least that was Sam and Dean's excuse.

After they left Alex's room, they both got their rifles from their room and decided to split up. Dean took the first three floors, while Sam took the top three floors.

The halls were so dark that the only light that was lighting up the hall, was coming from their flashlights. Dean didn't see anything on the first floor, so he headed towards the stairwell. Once he was in, he let the door go which made an echo in the entire stairwell.

"So much for the element of surprise." Dean mumbled to himself.

He walked up to the second floor and saw a flashlight. It wasn't his and he knew Sam was on the top three floors, so he quickly shut off his light and carefully opened the door. He peeked around the corner and saw the cop.

The young officer was talking to Karen, trying to assure her that he would find her husband's killer and that her children would be safe.

"Thank you so much officer." Karen said with her eyes red and watery.

"Just doing my job." He told her, then he turned around and walked towards the other end of the hall.

"No, you're doing my job, you moron." Dean grumbled as he held his rifle up and slowly started to look down the hallway. Again, there was no odd noises, but he still kept a look out.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Meanwhile; Sam wasn't making any more progress then Dean was. He had checked the sixth floor and didn't find anything, so he was currently walking down the hallway of the fifth floor. As Sam was walking down the hall, he heard a noise behind him. He quickly turned around and shinned his flashlight towards the stairwell door.

There was nothing there, so he turned back around cautiously. His light suddenly reflected off of two eyes of young woman. Sam quickly held up his rifle and aimed it at the girl.

"Whoa! What's going on?" The woman said while holding up her hands in surrender.

As Sam got a better look at her, he realized it was the girl from the tape. He remembered what Dean had said about her contacts, so he lowered his gun.

"Are you looking for that killer?"

"Uh, yeah." Sam said while still looking around. "You should go back into your room and lock the door."

"Ok." The woman nervously as she went back into her room.
Sam could hear the door being locked, then continued his search down the long, dark and empty hallway.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

In a few towns over the wind was blowing snow into Kyle's eyes. He quickly got out his room key and unlocked the door to his motel room. The door stuck a little, so he had to push it open with his shoulder. After a few slams, the door finally opened and some snow came into his room. He then shut the door and started to take off his jacket.

Kyle had just come home from work and was all dirty, so automatically headed for the bathroom. He took a nice long and hot shower to warm up his body again. Now he could finally wash off the long hard day of work and relax. Soon he would be able to go see Alex and see how she was doing, not knowing that their baby was born.

After Kyle got out of the shower and dressed, he walked over to his bed. He checked his watch, which read 11:30pm. Kyle decided to call it a night, so he turned off his lamp. He expected the room to be completely dark, but there was a light coming from his dresser. The light was coming from his phone and flashing.

"Oh no. How long has that thing been flashing?" Kyle asked myself, knowing that the flashing meant he had a missed call.

Kyle dragged himself out of bed and over to his phone. He suddenly remembered that he didn't bring his phone to work with him for the past two days. When he picked up the phone, he saw that he had not one, but eleven missed calls.

"Oh no!" Kyle said more worried this time.

His phone was muted, so even when he was home, he couldn't hear it. He flipped open his phone and saw that he had three messages on his voicemail. The first one was from Dean. "Hey, Kyle, it's Dean. Just wanted to let you know that Alex is sick and I think you should get here as soon as you can. Everything is fine, she's just worried about you, man. And to be honest here." Dean's voice lowered into a whisper. "She's scaring me. Please come A.S.A.P. I'm not sure how much longer I can take it."

Kyle laughed remembering how much Alex had bugged him to get her food in the middle of the night. He felt Dean's pain and sympathized with him.

"Sorry, but I don't think I can help you Dean." Kyle said as he looked out the window, to the blizzarding night.

The roads were barely visible. The weather station advised people to stay indoors and off the roads. As much as he wanted to comfort his sick fiance, Kyle knew that he couldn't risk it.

Kyle listened to the next call from Alex.

"Hey Kyle, I know you're at work and really busy, but I had to call you. I really miss you. I have this uneasy feeling, but I think it might just be a cold that's coming on. Call me when you get this. Love you."

The message brought a smile to Kyle's face. He was about to go back to bed, but remembered that there was one more message. This message made Kyle's heart sink, when he heard Alex talking with a nasally voice.

"Kyle, I was going to wait until you got here, but I think you deserve to know. It could be a while before you get here, and I can't keep lying to you." Kyle got more worried, because there was a short pause. "I had the baby." Kyle let out a sigh of relief and joy. "We have a baby girl." Alex said crying.

"I don't believe it." Kyle laughed overwhelmed with what he heard and ran his hand through his wet hair. "Little Hana Spencer." He said to himself.

"She's beautiful. She has your nose." Alex said with a laugh, which made Kyle laugh as well. "I really wish were here with us." This time Alex sounded sad. "We love you, be safe."

Kyle closed his phone and looked outside and made a quick decision. He was going to drive to Alex's hotel and meet his baby daughter. After he was all packed, he left and got into his car and drove off as careful as he could.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Alex was watching Hana sleep. The child looked so peaceful, while she was resting. It took all her strength for Alex not to pick her up and snuggle with Hana. She knew Sam and Dean were right about Hana getting sick, so she let her be.

After picking up her cell phone, Alex walked out on the balcony. She was bundled up in her hooded sweatshirt and flannel pants, along with a blanket wrapped around her shoulders. Alex flipped open her cell phone and saw that she had no signal.

"Great." Alex sighed to herself. "Where are you Kyle? I hope you're ok." Alex was getting worried that something had happened to Kyle.

She let out a few coughs, which caused her to drop her cell phone over the edge of the balcony. "Oh no."

Alex looked over the edge, but didn't see it anywhere. There was too much snow the ground and falling. Alex quickly turns around and runs towards her door. The blanket fell off her shoulders as she ran past Hana's crib. When she got to the door, she turned around and grabbed one of her room keys. She gave Hana one quick glance, to make sure she would be ok, then walked out of the room. She closed the door behind her and ran down the stairs. Unknown to Alex, she was being followed by a dark figure.

As Alex leaves the hotel door, she starts coughing some more. She ran over to where she had dropped her phone, and fell onto her hands and knees. During her frantic search, she didn't notice that the dark figure was getting closer. The snow was reflecting the moonlight, which helped her somewhat in her search for her cell phone. Alex turned her head towards the door and gasped. Two feet were standing in front of her, so she looked up.

"Looking for this?" A woman wearing a long dark cloak asked, holding Alex's cell phone.

"You scared me!" Alex laughs as she relaxes. Her smile fades as she sees a fist coming at her face. Without warning, the once white view she had, goes black. Alex's limp and unconscious body falls to the ground. The person kneels down over her body and the snow begins to come down harder and thicker. They placed the cell phone in her hand and got up. After she stood up, she swung her leg back and started kicking Alex's body hard with her boots. Once the woman was satisfied with the beating, she casually walked back inside the hotel, leaving Alex's body to slowly get buried in the falling snow.

IDENTITY CRISIS CH.8

"Bang! Bang! You'll never get away!"

"Watch me!" The little boy replied to his older brother. "Bang, bang, bang!" He ran under the bed holding a squirt gun, while he was being chased by his little brother.

"All right boys, that's enough. Time for bed." The mother smiled at her two boys playing together.

"Aww, come on mom. Just a little bit longer, please?" The older boy asked as he crawled out from under the bed.

"No. You're gonna wake up the neighbors. Now get up off the floor and into your beds."

"Aww." Both boys whined as they climbed into their beds.

The mother walked over to each bed to pull up their sheets, then gave them each a kiss on the head. She then turned off the lamp between their beds and walked over to the door next to the closet. "Good night boys." She said as she closed the door. She lets out a sigh and turns around to look at her empty bed. "Oh Richard?" She said playfully. Karen walked over to the bathroom door and pushed it open. The room was dark and empty, no sign of her husband. "He did say that he was going to be up here by ten, right?" Karen asked herself.

Meanwhile; Richard was at the bar finishing off his third beer.

"You want another?" The bartender asked while whipping down the bar.

"What time is it?" Richard asked more to himself. He checked his watch and shook his head. "No, I'm runnin' late actually. I was supposed to meet up with my wife for Valentine's Day."

"That's fine. Here's your bill." The man said handing Richard a receipt.

After he payed the bill, Richard turned around and started walking down the hall. He passed many rooms and finally reached the stairwell. His room was on the second floor, and he preferred to take the stairs over the elevator. He was about to take a step upstairs, but saw a woman. She was wearing a long black cloak with a hood that covered up most of her face. The woman didn't say a word, she only smiled at him devilishly, then she turned around and walked outside.

The mystery woman was so intriguing that Richard decided his wife could wait a little longer. So he followed the woman outside. After he left the hotel, he looked around for the mystery woman, but didn't see her anywhere. He rubbed his arms from the bitter cold wind. After a minute of waiting, he decided to forget about the mystery woman and go back up to his room. As his hand touched the door knob, he caught a glimpse of the woman in the corner of his right eye.

He quickly turned his head to face her. She used her finger to tell him to come towards her. Richard looked at his watch and knew that his wife would be worried, but when he looked up the mystery woman had walked around the corner of the building and out of site.

Richard's curiosity got the better of him and he hid his watch under his sleeve and walked around the corner. Sure enough, there she was waiting for him. He slowly walked over to her. Once he got up to her, he wrapped his arms around her and tried to kiss her.

The woman quickly held up her gloved hand and placed a single finger over his mouth. She waved her finger at him, telling him no.

He pulled back confused. "I don't understand."

"You will." She whispered into his ear, sending chills down his spine.

"What?" Richard said with a chuckle. This was getting too weird for him, but he couldn't resist her mystique.

"It's too bad." She saw Richard give her a confused look. "It's too bad that your wife will never know that you cheated on her."

Richard gave her a big grin and went to kiss her, but stopped dead in his tracks. He felt an intense pain in his stomach that was worse than any stomach cramp he had ever had before. Then a warm liquid ran down his body. He looked down and saw an icicle sticking inside of him and blood pouring out of him. Richard looked up at the woman in horror.

"She'll never know, because you'll be dead." She said with a wicked grin. She pulled the icicle out and stabbed him again. This time she got one of his lungs, because he was bent over in pain.

"No." He cried as he saw the woman get ready to stab him again. "I want to see to my kids again, and Karen..." Blood started to drizzle out of his mouth.

"You should have thought about that before you cheated on your wife with those other women."

Before Richard could ask how she knew that, the woman stabbed him in the heart.

He fell to his knees as she pulled out the icicle. Then his body finally fell face first into the snow.

Her job was done for the night, so she looked at the clear blood stained icicle and dropped it into the snow. She casually walked around his dead body and around the corner. The snow started to come down and buried the icicle as the woman walked inside the building. By morning the snow would leave a thin layer on the man's body.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

"A guy got stabbed last night." Sam said entering his room with breakfast and coffee.

Dean was sitting at the table while holding Hana in his arms. "So whatever is killing these people, is doing their thing at night."

"Which means tomorrow morning another person will be dead." Sam said closing the door and walking over to his bed.

"So how do we stop it from happening again?" Dean asked looking at Sam.

"I don't know, but we have to figure this out soon. I don't want Alex to find out about all this. Once she gets better, she's gonna go downstairs and will probably hear the rumors about all the deaths." Sam said as he set the coffee and food down on the table. "Has Alex woken up yet?"

"Yeah, she was going to take a shower. She wanted me to let her know when you got back with the food."

Sam sat there waiting for a minute while he looked at his brother. "Um, aren't you going to call her?"

"Right now?" Dean asked as if he was busy.

"You just said that she told you to call her when the food was here."

"Yeah." Dean said casually and still not getting up. "So what's your point?"

"Don't you think you should call her or go down to her room?" Sam asked with small laugh.

"Uh, no."Dean said while picking up a bottle with warm milk in it.

"Why not?" Sam said trying to understand why Dean was being difficult.

"Because she'll try to steal the baby from me again." Dean explained.

Sam was still confused and asked, "Again?"

"When I picked Hana up this morning, Alex tried to convince me to let her stay. She tried climbing out of bed, but she ended up tripping on her bed sheets."

Sam winced a little. "Ouch. Did she scrape her knees?"

"Not that bad." Dean said as he tried to feed Hana. "So what do we think this thing is? Spirit? Demon? Vampire? What? It could be anything?"

"I'm not sure. I'm gonna go on the computer and..." As if on cue, the lights flickered and went out. "Great." Sam sighed as he went over to his bag to get his flashlight. "So much for looking online." Sam muttered.

"There's always the library." Dean said with a shrug.

"Right. Like I'm going to walk through two feet of snow to a library that I have no idea where it is located, besides I didn't see one when we drove here."

"Good point." Dean said then looked back at Hana. "Looks like we have to wing it then." Dean sighed and looked back at Sam, because he wasn't making progress with Hana. "Lets just assume its a spirit. I mean it has a pattern, which is to kill one person a night."

"Which means tonight we should get ready to..." Sam trailed off because he saw Dean was struggling to get Hana to drink the milk. "Problems?"

Dean looked up at Sam with a sigh and said, "I don't think she likes me."

"If you're trying to get out of feeding her, you can forget it. It's not working" Sam said as he was looking in his bag with the flashlight.

"Hey. I'm trying, but the runt keeps spittin' it out at me." Dean said as he made another attempt to feed Hana the milk.

Sam lets out a sigh "Give me the bottle."

"Fine. I doubt she'll be any better with you." Dean carefully handed over Hana and the bottle to Sam.

"Come on Hana." Sam said softly to the baby girl. He tilted the bottle a little and she spit it out.

"I told you." Dean said with a smirk.

Sam sighed, "While I try to feed her, why don't you scan the hotel for EMF. That way we can see if it is or isn't a demon or spirit."

"Yeah, alright." Dean sighed as he walked into his room to get his flashlight and find his homemade EMF reader. "Hey, where was that guy found?"

"Right outside the stairwell door and around the corner. Nobody found the weapon yet, so keep your eyes peeled."

Dean nodded his head and walked out the door. His first stop would be the recent crime scene were the man was stabbed.

IDENTITY CRISIS CH.7

"So how are we going to find her?" Sam asked referring to the woman in on the tape. "This hotel has six floors with thirty rooms each. There's no way we'd be able to find her before somebody else dies."

"No, but I know how we can find her room." Dean said with an ever growing smirk.

By the look on Dean's face, Sam knew he was up to no good. It wasn't hard to tell what Dean had on his mind.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

"Hi Morana." Dean said with his winning smile, while walking up to Morana. he leaned on the front desk with his left elbow.

"I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name before."

"Oh, I'm Dean." He said holding out his hand to shake, smiling.

She shook his hand and smiled back. "Did you need something, Dean?"

"Well a couple things actually. I was wondering if you were doing anything today. It is Valentines Day after all. Since we're stuck in this place together for a while, we might as well make the best of it."

"Well..." Morana started with a small smile.

"Come on. Don't tell me, that you work twenty-four hours a day."

Morana laughed a little then said, "I don't its just..."

"There's another guy?" Dean asked disappointed

"No! No, I just don't like to go out with guests. If my boss found out, he'd be p*ssed." Morana said looking around to make sure he wasn't around.

"Yeah, he seems a little uptight. What's up with that? I mean coming into an inheritance like this, you'd think the guy would happy."

"Yeah, right. That jerk comes in every day barking orders at people. Not as friendly as his uncle was."

"All the more reason to have a relaxing night. I promise, I won't tell Maz."

"Ok." Morana smiled at Dean. "Was there something else that you wanted."

Dean smiled back "Now that you mention it, yeah. My brother saw this girl in the lobby that he liked. They got to talking and really hit it off, but the thing is; he forgot to ask her for her room number."

"And you wanted to see if I knew who she was and possibly her room number?" Morana finished for Dean.

"Exactly. I know you probably can't give that information away-"

"You're right, but I can for a certain price." Dean gave her a questioning, but intrigued look. "If you go on a date with me."

Dean grinned at Morana and started describing the girl on the tape.

Sam decided to go down to Alex's room with Hana, to see how Alex was doing. He had snagged one of her room keys when he was in her room earlier. After he got into her room, he slowly walked over to her, with Hana resting on his shoulder.

"Hey, you awake?"

"Yeah." Alex said with a yawn."Just woke up, actually." Alex said pushing herself into a sitting position, with her back resting against the headboard. "Did you bring the soup?"

"Yeah." Sam said while handing Alex the brown bag with a to-go cup of soup in it.

"Thank you." Alex said taking the soup out of the bag. "She hasn't been too much trouble for you, has she?" Alex said, nodding her head towards the sleeping baby.

"No. She's been pretty good. Sleeping, mostly." Sam said while rubbing Hana's back.

"Traitor." Alex muttered to Hana playfully.

"Hey, you do realize that her birthday is on Valentine's Day, right?"

"What are you talking about?" Alex asked Sam confused. "Hana was born last night. Today is Valentine's Day, not yesterday."

"I know, but she was born today." Sam said, but saw that Alex was still confused. "Last night when I was cleaning my hands off after she was born, I checked my watch, which read twelve thirty-eight. Alex, your daughter was born on Valentine's Day." Sam explained to Alex.

Alex sat there thinking about it for a minute, before she spoke. "Well that is the most painful Valentine's Day gift that anyone has ever given me."

"I would hope so." Sam said with a small laugh. "How's the soup?"

"Good. Then again I can't really taste anything,so..." Alex said before taking another bite.

"So I guess you're not feeling any better then?"

"Not really. My nose is all stuffed up, my throat is sore, and I am freezing." Alex took a sip of her soup, feeling the warm broth go down her throat and warm her up.

"Wish there was something I could do to help. Maybe I'll call up Dean and ask him to run over to the convient store across the street, and pick you up some cold medicine."

"That would be nice. Thanks." Alex said before taking another sip of her soup.

"Don't thank me until Dean agrees with it, and comes back with some." After Sam said that, his cell phone started to ring. "Hey Dean." Sam said after he opened his phone.

"Dude, where are you?" Dean asked looking around their rooms for something. He looked in his bag and found his gun.

"I'm in Alex's room. I gave her the soup." Sam told Dean with a confused expression. "Why? Where are you?"

"I'm in our room getting my gun." Dean said making sure his gun was loaded.

"So you got the room number I take it?" Sam asked while walking towards the bathroom, so Alex wouldn't hear him.

Dean closed his door after he left the room. "Yeah. I'm on my way up there now actually." Dean said while walking towards the stairwell.

"Wait for me, I'll come with you."

Dean started walking up the stairs. "No, you have to watch Hana. You shouldn't leave her alone with Alex when she's sick."

Sam sighed and looked at Alex. "Alright. If you need help, call me." Sam hung up his phone and saw Alex glaring at him. "What?"

"I want to hold her." Alex said, stretching her arms towards Hana.

"You know you can't." Sam felt bad for Alex. She truly looked sad.

"Please?" Alex asked making a puppy dog pouting face.

When Sam saw her expression, he felt guilty. Her watery eyes, her red nose, were all begging him to let her hold her child. It killed Sam, but he had to be tough with her for Hana's sake. "No. She'll get sick."

Alex slid down under her covers and folded her arms. "So not fare. I have a baby and I can't even hold her. I did all the hard work and this is the thanks I get?"

"I'm sorry. You'll thank me when you get better." Sam said while sitting in a chair next to her bed.

Dean found the room on the fifth floor. Room 517. He made sure his gun was accessible, then he knocked on the door twice. He waited and heard footsteps coming to the door. The door opened and the woman from the video was standing there. She looked a little panicked.

"I'm sorry. Is this a bad time?" Dean asked sarcastically.

"Yes actually." The woman replied.

"Oh really?" Dean was getting impatient.

"Yeah. I was looking for my contact lens. It fell out when I was unpacking my clothes. I can't find it anywhere."

"Unpacking? I thought I've seen you in the halls before?"

"Yeah. I packed up this morning. I was supposed to catch a flight, but it was cancelled because of the weather."

"Wait a minute. Did you say contacts?"

"You should see all my pictures. I'm like a cat with glowing eyes." The woman muttered while looking around her floor. "Last Christmas we took a ton of photos. The next day we got them developed and we had to throw out half. You know why?" She didn't even wait for a response from Dean. "Because of these stupid contacts caused camera flares on most of the pictures. D*mn camera flare."

"Yeah, camera flares." Dean said while turning around and walking down to Alex's room. The woman looked out the door confused and went back to searching her room.

"So she wasn't a shapeshifter?" Sam asked Dean back in his room.

"No." Dean said while holding Hana. "Just her contacts."

"Great, so we're back to square one again."

Hana started crying and Dean tried to calm her down. "I think Hana's hungry." Dean's face then twisted into one of disgust. "I don't think she's hungry. Sam, why don't you hold her."

"Why?" Sam then smelled what Dean had smelled. "No way man. It's your turn to change her diaper."

"Please?" Dean asked desperately as Sam walked into Dean's room and locked the door. "Man." Dean sighed while looking at Hana's face. "Your mom owes me for this one."

IDENTITY CRISIS CH.6

Early the next morning, Sam and Dean were already packed and ready to head down to Powderville. They didn't want to just leave Alex alone, but they had no choice. There was a shapeshifter that needed to be killed.

Instead of just leaving without warning, they decided to invite Alex to breakfast with them. They walked down to Alex's room and left their bags in their rooms. Sam knocked on the door three times, and there was no answer. "Alex? You awake?" Sam called to her through the door.

They both sat there for a minute, but didn't hear any footsteps. "Alex!" Dean yelled through the door.

They waited again, this time they heard soft foot steps leading to the door. Then they heard the sound of the chain lock drop and hit the door, before it slowly opened. "What do you want?" Alex asked clearly tired and cranky.

"What's wrong with you?" Dean asked staring at her extremely messed up hair. It was in her face and frizzed all over. He noticed that she was bundled up in flannel pants and layers of shirts which ended with a hoodie on top.

"You have a baby and try to sleep in the same room as it." After she said that, Alex coughed into her left elbow.

"Didn't get much sleep, huh?" Sam asked sympathetically.

"Sleep? I just got her to fall asleep an hour ago." Alex said after she coughed again.

"Oh come on. I'm sure it wasn't that bad." Dean laughed a little.

"That bad?! It was horrible!" Alex said followed by another cough. She was about to yell at Dean some more, but let out a sneeze. Thankfully she had a tissue, because she was looking directly at Dean.

"Are you ok?" Sam asked wrinkling his eyebrows in concern.

"It's nothing. I'm fined." Alex said with a nasally voice.

"Fined? You don't sound fined to me." Dean said clearly mocking her.

"Well I amb." Alex said trying to look normal, but let out another sneeze into her tissue. When she looked up, she saw Dean's hand coming up to her head.

Dean rested his hand on her head and could easily tell that she was sick. "Alex your burning up." Dean sighed as he dropped his hand down to his side.

"No I'mb not. Your hands are just too cold." Alex said crossing her arms.

"Sam, feel her forehead." Dean said also crossing his arms and having a stare down with Alex.

Sam reaches his hand up to her head and also lets out a sigh. "Your sick. Go back to bed." Sam told Alex insistently.

"Guys I'mb telling you-" Alex started.

"And we're telling you to go back to bed." Dean finished.

Even though she wanted to go to bed, Alex was concerned about her daughter. "But I have to feed Hana soon. She needs her formula." Alex said.

Sam smiled at how good of a mother Alex was. "We'll take care of her. Don't worry."

Alex was about to decline, but Dean spoke first. "You don't want to get her sick, do you?" Dean asked, knowing well what her answer would be.

"Fi-" Alex started to say, but saw a grin start to appear on Dean's face. "Alright." Alex turned around and climbed into her bed.

As Sam was getting Hana from the crib that was next the bed, Dean helped Alex get comfortable and pulled a blanket up for her. "Sam's taking Hana and the crib up to our room, while I get some breakfast from downstairs. Do you want me to bring you back something?"

"Some chicken soup would be nice. I'mb not hungry for breakfast now." Alex said pulling the covers up to her chin and snuggling into a ball.

"Ok. Call us if you need anything. In the meantime, I think you should get some rest."

"Two steps ahead of you." Alex said letting out a yawn and holding a tissue up to her nose.

Sam was already in his room with Hana and the crib, as Dean was on his way to get breakfast. The elevator door slid open and Dean walked in and pressed the button to the ground floor. Once the light flashed 'G', he heard what sounded like a lot of people. He got out of the elevator after the doors opened, he walked out of the hallway and saw a small group of people gathered in front of the fireplace. They were whispering and some held their hands over their mouths in shock. Dean made his way through the crowd to see what all the commotion was about. When he got a clear view he stopped.

Laying halfway into the fireplace was a body. The top end was burnt and black, while the legs that were dangling out didn't have any discoloration. Smoke was still coming off of the body as the flames were being put out by a fire extinguisher. Maz, the hotel manager was pushing the crowd back and telling people to go back to their rooms. Dean walked over to him and noticed that the fire was being put out by a young cop. He could tell, because the man had his gun on his belt. Dean made sure to keep his back towards him. "What happened?" Dean asked as he stood next to Maz.

"Mary-Sue, one of the maids, was vacuuming the floor this morning. I saw her when I went to get some papers from my office. When I was in there, I heard somebody scream. So I came out to check what was going on, and to my surprise one of the guests who was trying to check out, found her right where she is now. Only she was covered in flames."

"Did any body see her fall?"

"No, but those might have, if the tapes were actually put in them." Maz said nodding his head towards a security camera above the front desk. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have to figure out how to clean up this mess." Maz said then walked over to the cop.

Dean looked at Maz, then checked to see if anyone was around. Once he was certain that nobody was looking, he snuck through the door to the offices. He checked each room until he found the one with security cameras. The footage did get recorded on tape fortunately. After Dean watched what had happened a few times, he quickly pulled the tape out and stuffed it in jacket.

Meanwhile, Sam was up in his room trying to get Hana to fall back asleep. Her eyes finally slowly closed as she eased into a steady sleep. Sam lowered her into the crib and covered her with a blanket. He was about to sit down, but heard a knock at the door. Luckily it wasn't loud enough to wake Hana. Sam opened the door and let Dean in. "You're lucky you didn't wake her up." Sam said pointing to Hana's crib.

"Yeah, well we have worse things to worry about." Dean said while setting a bag with soup in it and two coffee filled cups on the table. "You know we're lucky this hotel has a cafeteria. We're snowed in. Nobody is leaving this place."

"So the shapeshifter has to wait another day and more people die?" Sam asked.

"Its not like we have a choice, Sam. Have you seen it outside?" Dean said pointing to the window behind him with his thumb.

Sam walked over and pulled back the curtain and looked down. All of the cars in the parking lot were buried in the snow. "Great." Sam said as he leaned his head against his arm, which was resting on the window.

"It gets better." Dean said before taking a gulp of his coffee. "Watch this." Dean said tossing the tape on Sam's bed.

"What is it?" Sam asked picking it up and putting it into the VCR.

"Its a security camera that's above the front desk in the lobby." Dean said walking over next to were Sam was sitting on the bed. "Keep an eye on the bottom left hand corner."

Sam watched the corner, then saw a maid come out and start vacuuming the floor. "Wow. A maid cleaning the floor. Yeah, you're right Dean, that is suspicious."

"Just keep watching." Dean said glaring at Sam.

The maid was now in front of the fire place with her back to the camera. Then a dark shadow appeared in the corner. Somebody dressed in a long dark cloak slowly walked over to the maid. Once they were right behind Mary-Sue, they pulled a knife out of their pocket, opened the blade, then slit her throat. After her body went limp, the person shoved her into the fireplace and ran back towards the hallways, which were out of the camera's view. A few minutes after that, the guest trying to check out, came into view.

"Do you think this person killed the man we found in the stairwell?" Sam asked Dean.

"Probably. I'm not sure its a person though. I mean, why would a serial killer go on a killing spree in a hotel where a cop is staying and a lot of witnesses?"

"There's a cop staying here?"

"Yeah. He didn't see me though. But we still have to be careful."

Sam nodded his head and started to watch the tape again. "Hey, I think I found something."

Dean took a seat next to Sam, as he rewound the tape to a certain part.

"Watch the woman that finds maid." Sam said pointing to the screen.

Dean focused on the corner that the guest came from. She appeared on screen and looked at the body and screamed. "Seems like a normal reaction to me."

"Watch it again." Sam said rewinding the tape, then pressing play.

This time Dean noticed that the woman was panting and trying to catch her breath, as she came into view. "Well that's suspicious." Dean said looking at Sam.

"She's the same height too."

"Wait a second. Did you see that?" Dean said pointing to the screen. "Rewind the tape."

"See what?" Sam asked as he rewound the tape again.

"Stop, right there." Dean told Sam with his eyes focused on the screen. "Look at her eyes."

"Shapeshifter." Sam sighed.
