FIB, Chapter 3
“Dean…” Sam began as he closed the motel door.
“What happened?” Dean demanded as he turned around.
“What?”
“What happened between you and Alex while I was in hell?” Dean stared at Sam with piercing eyes.
Sam put his bag on his bed and shrugged out of his coat. “Nothing. We just had a falling out. I was too busy-“
“Sending demons to hell with Ruby?”
Sam felt his brother’s judging eyes on him as he hung up his coat in the closet. He sighed remembering what had happened four months ago. The conversation was cloudy, and with good reason.
“Well?” Dean pressed for an answer.
Sam turned around and faced his brother, who was now closer. “I was in a bad place, Dean.”
“So, what?” Dean’s eyes widened with anger. “You ignore everyone, then? Bobby? Alex? Even Hana?”
“Dean, how did you feel when I died?” Sam asked, getting frustrated with his brother’s accusations. “Did you go and have a family reunion? Have a beer or two with Bobby and share stories about me?”
Dean didn’t say anything, but his expression slightly softened.
“You dealt with me dead for a fraction of how long you were dead. I didn’t think I would see you again. Ever. How was I supposed to feel knowing that you were in hell?”
Sam and Dean just stared at each other for a minute. The silence was interrupted when Sam’s cell phone rang. He answered the phone, not recognizing the number.
“Hello?”
“Sam?” a hoarse voice on the other end answered.
“Who is this?” Sam asked, not recognizing the voice.
There was a whimper, followed by a sniffle. “Luisa. Sam, please. You’re the only other person that I know, that can help me.”
“Luisa, what’s wrong?”
Luisa sobbed, “He’s after me. My ex-boyfriend is trying to kill me. I think he knows where I am.”
Sam quickly grabbed his coat off of the rack. “Can you make it to a hotel or something?”
“No.” There was more sobbing now. “I think I twisted my ankle.”
“Alright, listen. I need to know exactly where you are.” After Sam wrote down the address on a pad of paper on the nightstand, he told her, “Alright, I need you to hide somewhere and don’t come out until you hear me, okay?”
“Okay.”
“I’m leaving right now. I’ll be there in a few hours.” Sam hung up the phone and started taking his bags back out to the car.
“Luisa’s said her ex is trying to kill her. Sounds like she broke her foot, we need to-“
“I’m not going,” Dean said as he walked back into the motel room.
Confused, Sam followed after Dean, wondering what was going on. “Why not? She’s in danger, Dean.”
“I’m sorry, but Alex just saw her dead cousin chase her through the woods. I’m pretty sure she’s freaked out. I can’t just leave her like that. I won’t. Besides,” Dean said as he started unpacking his bag. “Maybe she will tell me what happened between you two.”
“Dean,” Sam began with determination, “Luisa is in real danger. We don’t know what is really after her. Now, Alex doesn’t have somebody trying to kill her. She’ll be here when we get back.”
“I’m sorry, but I can’t. I’m sure Luisa is a good person and doesn’t deserve this, but I saw the look in Alex’s eyes and I can’t ignore that. Besides, you can take care of this alone.” With that, Dean tossed his keys over to Sam. “Good luck.”
Sam waited for a minute before he left the motel, closing the door behind him.

“Why do you want him?” Luisa cried, struggling to get her wrists free from the rope. “He doesn’t have anything to do with this!”
“I wouldn’t be so sure about that,” Matt grinned. “It seems that your boyfriend is a high priority with my friend, Kate, here.”
“What?” Luisa looked at them with worry. “No. NO! Leave him out of this!”
Kate walked up and smacked Luisa across the face. “Right now I care more about him than you. Consider yourself lucky.”
“Yeah, don’t worry, Baby,” Matt said as he brushed aside a few strands of hair behind her ear and whispered, “The Winchesters are going to get it a lot worse than you.”
He kissed her on the forehead and walked away; leaving Luisa tied to a post supporting the basement of the late Miss. Dennley’s house. He kicked what was left of Erika out of the way as he and Kate walked up the stairs, locking Luisa down their alone.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
After Kyle put Hana down to bed, he grabbed the baby monitor and walked down the hall to his room. Upon opening the door, he realized that Alex wasn’t in there. He stuffed the monitor in his pocket and walked back into the hallway. He checked the bathroom, but she wasn’t there either, so he continued his search through the dining room and living room. Realizing she wasn’t there, he decided to check the basement. He flicked the switch and slowly started to walk down the creaking stairs.
“Alex?” Kyle called out as he reached the bottom step. He looked around and saw her sitting on the other side her old bed. Her back was leaning against the bed for support.
“Was he…real?” Alex asked as she looked up from a journal that she held tightly in her grip.
“
Yeah,” Kyle said softly as he sat down next to her on the floor. “He was.”
Alex sighed and looked down at the closed book. “I can’t believe it,” she whispered.
“Are you going to be okay?” he asked, resting his hand on her knee, eyeing the journal.
“I don’t know,” Alex shrugged. Images started flashing in Alex’s head from her nightmares. “It’s just a little overwhelming, you know?”
“Trust me, I know.” Kyle sympathetically smiled at Alex, knowing she was struggling with this.
“Did Sam… Did he... say anything?” Alex turned her head and looked into her husband’s eyes.
“No.” Kyle moved his arm around her shoulders and hugged her. “I’m sorry.”
Alex started to cry and leaned in to Kyle’s grip.
“He did look like he was sorry. I mean, as much as I hate the guy for what he did, you can’t really blame him. He was drunk and he lost his brother,” Kyle said, thinking back. “I’m not saying that that is right or an excuse, but you can’t be mad at him forever.”
“It’s not just that,” Alex said wiping the tears away. “It’s just that… I really could have used his help on something.”
Kyle pulled back and looked at her confused. “Why didn’t you just ask me? You know I would do anything for you.”
Alex gave him a small smile. “I know you would, but this is something that only he would understand.”
“Does it…” Kyle hesitated, “Have to do with their job?”
Alex nodded her head.
Kyle nodded back, “Right.”
There was silence for a minute.
“Do you want me to tell you?” Alex asked.
Kyle quickly looked at Alex, but she was looking straight ahead.
“Well, if you don’t mind. I mean, I may not know what they do, but I could at least try to help.” He gently squeezed her shoulders. “If I can’t help fix the problem, I’ll help you deal with it.”
“Not now.”
Kyle’s face fell.
Alex kissed him on the cheek. “Tomorrow, I promise. I’m too tired to explain it all tonight.”
Kyle smiled, “It’s a date.”
They both got up and walked towards the stairs when they heard Hana crying on the monitor.
“Apparently not all of us want to go to bed,” Kyle groaned.
Alex suppressed a laugh and was about to head upstairs when she remembered that she was still holding the journal.
“Um, I’ll be up in a few minutes. Okay?”
Kyle glanced at the journal and nodded his head, “Sure thing.”
Alex watched Kyle walk up the stairs before she turned around, heading for her old bed. She kneeled down on the floor and pulled a wooden brown box out from underneath the bed. Once she flipped open the lid, she took a long look at the contents and sighed. After a minute she gently placed the journal in the box, resting it on top of a book about ancient symbols. A book she had found in her mother’s chest over the summer, which held a sealed note inside.
Alex stared at the box after she closed the lid. She had not opened the letter yet. She wasn’t ready to read something that her mother had left for her.
Eventually, she pushed the box back under the bed and walked back upstairs.

FIB, Chapter 2
She pushed the thought aside and handed the case of beer over to the head bar-tender, Jerry.
"Hey, Xandy, you got some customers over at table twelve." He informed her as he grabbed the case of beer.
"Looks like your regulars," a woman named Julie said as she prepared a drink for a customer. "Might as well get the burgers started," she said as she walked into the back to set the order.
Jerry and Julie both owned the bar called J&J. They were brother and sister, both somewhere in their thirties with Julie being the youngest at thirty-two. She had shoulder length brown hair that barely touched her shoulders. Whenever she pulled it back into a ponytail (which was every night she worked) a few strands of her hair hung in her face.
Jerry on the other hand was always trying to impress the female customers and the occasional male customer, for a big tip. He would show up his skills at serving the drinks, either by flipping the bottle in the air or pouring the drink without looking at the glass.
The young woman, who went by the name of Xandy, looked over at table twelve.
"Thanks for the heads up, Jerry."
She walked over to the table and pulled out a pen and pad from the black apron around her waist. As they told her what they wanted, she wrote it down on the pad of paper. As she was writing, she caught another glimpse of the same guy through the crowded bar. But when she looked up again, he wasn't there.
"I'll be right back with your two beers. The burgers will be out shortly."
Xandy made her way back to the bar, bobbing and weaving through crowds of people. Once again, she saw the same guy from her past. She had seen him at the bar before, but not this many times. "Great. Now I'm seeing things," she mumbled to herself as she walked behind the bar. Not paying attention to the crowd of people, the woman walked over to the cooler to get a few beers.
"Excuse me, miss?" a man asked, trying to get her attention.
The young woman was too distracted by her thoughts, that she didn't hear the man call her. When she knelt down to get the beer, she finally heard Julie call her name. She snapped back to reality and stood up holding two beers in her hands.
"What is it Julie?"
"You got a customer," she said, nodding behind her.
She turned around and set the one beer bottle on the table then looked up. When she saw the man's face she jumped in shock, dropping the bottle to floor. After the glass shattered, the bar went silent for a minute and some of the men cheered and howled.
The man who wanted her to wait on him was, sure enough, the man from her past. The man that she thought had died started to laugh a little. "Oh come on. Don't tell me that you're still scared of me?"
As she started backing away, she bumped into Jerry. "Xandy, don't worry about the mess, I'll have Phil clean it up. PHIL! Broken glass!" Jerry yelled over to the other end of the bar.
"Xandy? Since when do you go by that name?" The man asked still finding the situation amusing. "If I didn't know any better, I'd think that you were trying to hide from someone."
She quickly backed away and ran into the kitchen.
"Hey! Xandy, where are you going?" Julie asked worried about her. It wasn't like her to just run out on them. They all knew about the things that she had gone through, so Julie let her off the hook.
Throwing off her apron, the young waitress ran to the back door and headed for the woods.

A young man came into the main office of the Baker Motel. He was tall and had dark hair that hung in his face; his clothes were worn in and raggedy.
“Hi, can I help you?” the female receptionist asked with a bright smile. She couldn’t help but notice how attractive he was compared to the other losers that walked through that door.
“Yes, actually, I lost my cell phone. I think I left in my room that I recently stayed in.”
“Oh, sure,” she said as she knelt down to open up a cabinet, pulling out a small bin. She fished through the various items and found a cell phone. “Is this it? You can use this phone to check the number,” she suggested, pushing the office phone in front of him.
“Thank you.” He dialed the number and grinned when the phone in her hand started to ring. “Perfect.”
“Will that be all?” She widened her smile and leaned forward, pulling the phone back.
He looked out to his car parked out front in the empty parking lot, then looked her up and down. “Actually... No. My friends and I”—he motioned to two more vehicles that pulled up next his—“haven’t had a decent meal in a few days.”
“And you’d liked me to recommend the nearest restaurant,” she guessed.
“Not quite,” he smirked as her smile faded away.
Before the girl could react, he was already holding her down.
After him and his friends were all done, he walked up to a woman with long brown hair wearing torn jeans and a tight, black t-shirt.
“Did you find the cell, Matt?” she asked with her arms folded as she leaned against her car.
Matt noticed the annoyed look on her face. “Oh, come on. You know you enjoyed your little snack. And, yes, I did find it.” He waved the phone in front of him.
The woman sighed, “She better be worth this chase or else.”
“Or else what?” Matt challenged her. “Come on, Kate. You need to get over his death and have some fun.”
“You didn’t know him! Luther was my life and they took him away from me! I want revenge,” Kate snapped at him and snatched the cell phone out of his hands. “How is this…?” She trailed off when she smelled something familiar. Holding the phone up to her nose, she took a sniff. “They were with her. Their scent is faint,” she noted to herself.
Matt watched in confusion as she started searching the phone for something. “What are you doing?”
She ignored him and grinned when she found what she was looking for. “She does know them. Maybe this little chase of yours can be useful after all, Matty,” she said as she stared at Sam Winchester’s cell phone number.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Xandy ran through the woods, towards the river that ran past her backyard. If what she thought was happening was happening, then she needed help and fast. But what was she going to do? The only other person she could talk to about this didn’t want to talk to her anymore. So, she was all alone with a killer on her trail.
Behind her, she heard loud thuds of footsteps chasing after her.
“This can’t be happening,” she panted.
She held her arms up, breaking any branch that got in her way or pushing them aside. Her feet snapped twig after twig under her sneakers. Once she reached the wide river that was illuminated by the moon, she started running faster. Her path would now be mostly clear, except for the occasional branch or log.
Her dark path was suddenly enlightened by two faint beams of light, bouncing around her.
“Over there!” she heard a man yell.
Hearing snapping twigs, branches and crunching leaves behind her, she quickened her pace. She risked the chance and glanced behind her, only to be blinded by their lights. When she turned around, her foot got caught on root, tripping her.
She held back a scream, not wanting to draw further attention toward herself. On her way down, she caught herself on her hands and pushed off the ground, stumbling a little bit.
A few minutes later she saw the bridge up ahead and sprinted forward. She finally made her way to the twenty foot long, concrete bridge. As she ran across, she could hear the rushing sound of the water flowing underneath her. She could smell the fresh water off of the wind that ran along the current.
Once she was across, she knew she was getting closer to her destination.
Up ahead she could see the clearing of her backyard, where she knew she would be safe. Unfortunately, she was still being followed, but she kept her steady pace.
She ran across her yard and up to her back door. Her fists were banging on the door, as she kept looking at the two shadows that were drawing closer and closer.
“Kyle!” she yelled through the door. When the door finally opened, she pushed past her husband, who was holding their daughter.
Kyle was about to close the door and go after her until he heard somebody call his name.
“What the hell?” Kyle couldn’t believe his eyes. Seeing them sent a fury of anger run through him, but he had to put his daughter down first. After he placed her in her playpen, he stormed over to the door, where he saw Sam and Dean Winchester walking towards him.
“Leave!”
“What?” Dean asked in disbelief.
“You heard what I said!” He yelled, balling his fists in rage. “I don’t know what you guys are trying to do, but I won’t let you do that to her again!”
Sam and Dean looked at each other confused.
"Whoa, Kyle, take it easy. What's going on?" Sam said.
"Are you kidding me?!" Kyle saw Sam and Dean look at each other clueless and said, "Alex thinks you're dead!"
Dean’s heart skipped a beat as his color left his face. Ever since he came back, he had forgotten about Alex until he stumbled upon a photo of Hana. But then Dean started to wonder who told her or how she found out.
Dean turned towards Sam and asked, “Did you tell her?”
Sam hesitated, glancing at Kyle, who now had his arms folded across his chest. “No.”
"No?! It never occurred to you that it would have been a good idea to tell her this?!"
"I was too busy trying to save you!" Sam explained.
Dean looked back from Sam to Kyle. "So, she thinks I've been dead for the past five months?" he asked furiously.
“Yeah,” Kyle answered a little less angry. Something in Dean’s tone made Kyle wonder if Sam told him anything that happened.
"Well she knows I'm alive now. Can I at least talk to—" Dean was cut off by Kyle.
"No. I don’t think that’s a good idea."
"What do you mean?" Sam asked worriedly.
Kyle sighed and glanced towards the hallway. "All through May Alex was hoping to get a call from you guys, letting her know that everything was okay. After May and no phone calls, she went into a serious depression. She would wake up in pain, crying from nightmare after nightmare all throughout the night. The days weren’t much better for her either. It got so bad that she even wanted to leave me and Hana, because she was afraid of losing us too. That's when we decided to take her to a therapist."
"We?" Sam asked curiously.
"Everyone: Brad, my grandma, Cody, and a few of her friends from work. We all told her it would be for the best and that we were all there for her. About a month ago she finally started to smile again and made a lot of progress. Now you're here and I’m afraid she'll go back to square one." Kyle explained.
Dean took in what Kyle had said. He couldn’t believe it. Alex suffered because of him. She thought she lost another member of her family for good. On his last day he didn’t even think of how much it would affect Alex. She wasn’t this depressed after her step-dad was murdered by Danny, so why did she act this way now? What made him so special that his death caused such an impact on her life?
"So, could you please, just, leave? I'll call you tomorrow and let you know how she's doing."
With that, Kyle walked back inside his house, leaving Sam and Dean in the backyard.
Sam looked at his brother and sighed. "Dean..."
"Not now, Sam." Dean walked back into the woods and glanced at the house, wondering more about those lost four months.

Famous In Battle, Chapter 1
Luisa was looking in room after room carrying the stuffed bear in her hands, searching for Kyle Spencer. She wanted to thank him for the ride and give him a gift for his new born daughter, Hana.
The white hallways were all identical, making her search go twice as difficult. She had asked what the room number was, but it had slipped her mind in her rush to find him. There wasn’t enough time to run down to the front desk again, she had to find him.
As she turned a corner, she ran into a tall man with shaggy hair. Something about him looked oddly familiar and she would have panicked if she didn’t notice the distant look on handsome face.
“Sorry,” he muttered with a smile, which she could only imagine was out of politeness. Then he looked at her and his eyes widened with realization, but she already started talking before he could ask questions.
"Oh, don't worry about it. I really should have watched where I was...” She trailed off as she looked into those familiar hazel eyes. “Do I know you?" She asked getting a better look at his face, as did he did to her.
“Luisa, right?” he asked, seeming to forget what he was looking for.
She was amazed that he remembered her name, but then again, she remembered his. The run in they had had less than a year ago, was still fresh in her memory.
"Yeah,” she nodded her head smiling. "Wow! Sam, I thought I would never see you again!" Luisa said with a laugh. "What are you doing here?"
"My cousin and brother are here actually."
Things started coming back from their conversation. It wasn’t hard for her to remember what they had talked about; he was the first person—besides her ex-boyfriend—that she had an actual conversation with in over two years. There was no time in her life to stop and make new friends, not since the accident.
"Oh, yeah! Wasn't your cousin having a hard time last year or something?"
She could tell that he was obviously shocked, by the expression on his face.
“Wow. You actually remembered that?" he asked.
"Yeah! I just remembered how sweet that was and hoped that everything was okay. I don't really meet a lot people now-a-days, especially cute, single guys that care." Luisa quickly realized what she said and changed the subject. "So, how is she?"
"She's fine...except she's here," Sam said trying to get his wording right. "So what are you in here for?"
"I was in a car accident." She held up her broken arm that was resting in a sling. "A guy gave me a ride and the weather was just awful, we hit a car head on."
Sam's eyes widened. "How's the guy?"
"He's fine, but he has a concussion," Luisa explained. "I was actually looking for him. I wanted to thank him for the ride, considering how it ended."
"I would help you out, but I'm actually looking for my cousin right now." Sam said as he scanned the hallway again. "You didn't see a woman carrying a baby..." He trailed off with a sigh, realizing that he was in a hospital where a woman walking around with a baby would be a common site. "Forget it."
Before Luisa could say another word, she saw a man that had similar features to Sam, come out of a room and start questioning him. She didn’t take much notice to what they were saying, because she was still caught up in the fact that she met Sam again. There was something about him that made her feel at ease.
She was brought out of her daze when she heard the other man ask for introductions.
"I'm Dean, the older brother." He smiled as he extended a hand for her to shake.
“Luisa. Hi.” She smiled back.
As Sam explained to Dean how they met, the brother’s started to get into a little disagreement. Dean was wondering why Sam wasn’t looking for their cousin, when a high pitched noise made her blood run cold.
The beep of her cell phone went off, letting her know that she had a text message. She quickly pulled the phone out of her pocket, with her left hand, which wasn’t broken. Sure enough, there was a message from her ex-boyfriend. The title of the text sent chills down her spin. The four threatening words that only made sense to her: I have your trail.
"Oh, no." She snapped the phone shut and looked in every direction, but he wasn’t there. Of course he wouldn’t be, she thought to herself as she shoved her phone back into her pocket.
"Is something wrong?" Sam noted the scared look on her face and started to get concerned.
"No! I mean, no. It's nothing, just a little family drama." What else was she supposed to say? She couldn’t tell him the truth; he would have her locked up in a mental institution. Even if she fabricated the truth to where her ex-boyfriend was trying to kill her, that still wouldn’t help her chances of survival. In the beginning she tried calling cops, but he just killed them off with his new friends. Her only chances were to run, and if the text was true, then she couldn’t waste anymore time.
"Listen, Sam. I don't mean to cut this short or anything, but I really have to get going."
"Luisa, are you sure everything is ok?" Sam started digging in his pockets for something.
"I'll be fine, really." Luisa confirmed with a lack of confidence.
"All right, here," Sam said as he handed her a piece of paper that he just wrote his number on.
"Call me if you ever need anything."
"Thanks."But I’d rather not drag you into this, Luisa thought as she pocketed the slip of paper and started to walk away. "Hey!" Luisa started walking back to them. "Could you do me a favor?"
"Uh, sure."
"If you by any chance you see a guy named Kyle, could you tell him I said thank you," Luisa asked, looking into Sam's eyes. "And give this to him?" She held out a small, brown teddy bear. "It's for his daughter, Hana."
Sam simply nodded his head in shock that she knew Kyle. "Sure."
"Thanks. Bye." She ran down the hall and found the elevator, frantically pushing the down button.
She made it out of the hospital and into the parking lot. Her car was already towed to the hospital and parked near the front. Once she got in and on the road, she never slowed down.

Seven months passed by with only one message from her ex-boyfriend.
“I will catch you. You’re only making the chase more thrilling and more tempting by running away.”
The only hope she had left was that she would see Sam again.
Now she was packing up her things in a room at the Baker Motel that she stayed in for one night. She was always in a hurry to leave that she often forgot something behind, but those things don’t matter anymore. Anything she lost, she could easily replace.
After she left she did leave something behind again, but this item was more important than all of the others. It was the only way she could know if she was in danger.

The fall leaves started coming down around the few trees shadowing Erika Dennley’s new house. She bought the house a few weeks ago—it was run down and she loved a good challenge when it came to makeovers. Becoming a designer was her passion, and this house—besides her ex-boyfriend’s—was going to be her first project. There were two floors and a basement that all needed to be refinished and redesigned.
The sun was high in the sky as she was painting the walls to her future office. She was done with the wall surrounding the two windows, and once finished; she would get started on a load of laundry. She walked to her half finished room and started throwing a bunch of her clothes down the laundry chute—which was one of the main reasons why she bought the house, it saved her the trouble of carrying down a heavy basket. On her way to the stair case she picked up a new bottle of laundry detergent from the bathroom and placed it inside of the dumbwaiter next to the linen closet. She pulled the strings until she was sure that it was all the way in the basement.
“I love this house,” she squealed to herself. It was one of her childhood dreams to own a house with such features.
Once in the basement, Erika started throwing her whites into the washing machine, then she walked across the vast, empty basement to retrieve the laundry detergent. As she pulled the red bottle out of the dumbwaiter, she heard a creak above her head. She shrugged it off and pulled the rope, sending the waiter back up to the top floor then continued her laundry.
She was about to go back upstairs when she noticed a white sock sitting on top of her pile of clothes under the laundry chute.
“Huh. I thought I got all of the whites,” she muttered to herself. Just as she was about to pick up the sock, a knife fell out of the chute and pierced through her hand. She screamed in agony and frantically tried to pull the knife out, but it was no use. As she was painfully pulling at the knife, she heard a noise behind her.
The dumbwaiter was coming back down.
In fear, she ran towards the wooden staircase, only to have the door slam shut on her. When she reached the top, she tried to open the door, but it was locked tight. She slowly walked downstairs and looked around the dark basement that was lit up by a single light bulb above the washing machine. Over the noise of her clothes going through the rinse cycle, she could still hear the waiter being pulled down. When it finally stopped her heart started pounding a mile a minute.
With lack of better judgment, she cautiously walked over and looked inside. There was nothing there. She sighed in relief; not really knowing what she thought would be there—the waiter was too small to carry a person down. When she turned around she jumped and screamed at the top of her lungs.

IDENTITY CRISIS CH.27
There was a knock that echoed in the room. Dean blinked his eyes open and rolled over with a groan. He pulled the blanket back up to his neck, then he heard it again. With another groan, Dean sat up and looked at the door. There was another knock, louder this time. Dean slowly got out of bed and glanced at the clock. "Three in the morning?", he questioned with a groan.
Once he reached the door, he checked the peep hole and opened the door. "Do you have any idea what time it is?" Dean glared at Alex, who was dressed in her flannel pants and a loose, long sleeved, t-shirt. When his eyes adjusted to the light, he noticed that her face was soaked in tears. "What-?" Before Dean could ask, she quickly wrapped her arms around him. He could feel her tears soak into his shirt.
"Alex? What's wrong?" Dean asked, pushing her back to look her in the eyes.
Alex started to explain... Or tried to at least. All Dean could hear was her squealing between sobs, and she was pointing in random directions with her finger.
"Okay, okay, okay. Here, sit down." Dean lead her to his bed and sat her down on the end. "I'll be right back. I promise." He assured her with a hand on her shoulder.
Dean walked over to the connecting door and looked back at Alex, who had her head in hands, shaking from her sobs. He looked back at the door and pushed it open after knocking twice. Sam was sitting up in his bed all tired and groggy, wondering why Dean woke him up so early.
"Dude. It's three in the morning." Sam complained.
Dean sighed. "Somethings wrong with Alex."
Now more alert, Sam pushed aside the covers and stood up. "What happened? Is she all right?"
"I'm not sure. I think she told me, but I couldn't understand her."
"Do you think we should call up Kyle?" Sam suggested, looking around for his phone.
"No." Dean said, "Something tells me that he already knows."
They both walked back in to Dean's room and saw Alex in the same position that Dean had left her. Sam and Dean exchanged looks and walked over to Alex.
"I..." Alex started to say, but she began to cry again. This time she started to choke a little, while having a hard time breathing.
"Hey, hey. Shh. It's okay." Sam sat down next to her and wrapped an arm around her for comfort. "Everything is going to be okay. Just take it easy, and take a deep breath." Alex did what he told her to do, while he rubbed her shoulder. "That's it. Just try to relax."
Dean had grabbed a chair and was now sitting in front of them. "What's wrong?" It was a simple question, but she stayed silent. He sighed and decided it was time to press for an answer. "You know, you can tell us anything. Please, Alex, just talk to us. What's going on with you?" Dean asked, looking into her red, watery eyes.
She stared at him for a minute, then finally spoke. "I miss them." Alex whispered through her tears.
"... Your parents?" Sam asked her tenderly.
Alex nodded. "Hana will grow up without any-" She couldn't finish what she started to say, because she was too pained to say it. Once she did say it, it would be real. Instead, Alex started crying more into her hands.
"Shh. It's okay." Sam squeezed her a little in a half hug.
"They're all dead because of me." Alex said, while trying to stop crying.
"Why would you say that?" Dean asked her curiously.
"Because it's true." Alex wiped her eyes with the palms of her hands and controlled her breathing again. "The day before my tenth birthday, my dad took me to a water park in the Wisconsin Dells. We spent the whole day there, having fun. When he went to drop me off at my mom's house, I remember he gave me the tightest hug and I could feel his tears soaking into my shirt. He pulled me away and looked me in the eyes, then he said, 'What ever happens, be safe and be strong. Be the fighter that I taught you to be and never give up. Life's going to get harder, but I know you're going to get stronger. I will always love you, Alexandra.' Then he kissed me on the forehead and walked back to his car." Alex started to choke up again, but contained her composure. "The next day, during my party, I was playing with my friends in the backyard, when I saw my mom answer the phone. She started crying almost right away. Turns out my dad was found on his living room floor... cut up and bloody. Large claw marks running down his chest. Even though they were divorced, my mom and dad were still good friends. She took his death pretty hard. The cops never found out what happened to him. To be honest... It seemed like he knew it was coming. The way he treated me whenever I spent time with him, was like it was my birthday. He always did what I wanted to do, and played games with me." Alex started to cry softly. "Making every last minute count."
"That must have been awful." Dean said sympathetically. "But you can't really blame yourself for his death. Him dying on your birthday wasn't your fault." Dean knew in reality that it was indirectly her fault. When she was born her dad made a deal. He sold his soul when she died at birth, and ten years later he died because he saved her life.
"It's not just that. When I was seventeen, my mom got into a terrible car crash." Alex explained. "Just as bad as mine, but she didn't make it. She broke her neck. She was on her way to pick me up from my kick-boxing class. So, try to convince me that it wasn't fault." She looked up at Dean, who looked away. "Plus there's the fact that my step-dad was murdered by a demon, who was after me. The same demon who claimed to have caused my mom's accident."
"How come you've never told us any of this before?" Sam asked.
Alex hesitated before she answered. "Because I... Forget it."
"Tell us." Sam said. "Haven't you waited long enough?"
"Yes." Alex said drying her tears.
"Then why do you keep pushing us away, when all we want to do is help you?" Dean asked her.
The time had finally come. They were both right, it was time for her to talk. So Alex took a deep breath and said, "Because I'm scared."
"Scared of what?" Sam asked, concerned. He wondered what she had meant. Did she know about her curse?
"That if I get too close to you, that I'd loose you like...like I did with my parents." She looked from Sam to Dean and paused for a moment.
"You're not going to loose us, Alex." Dean assured her. "We're never going to leave you. You got that? We'll always be there for you. Just a phone call away."
"No, you won't." She said looking directly at Dean and not Sam.
"Of course we will. We could never forget-" Dean started to say, but she cut him short.
"No, Dean. I meant...you won't be there."
"What are you talking about?" Dean didn't get it, but Sam knew exactly what she was talking about.
"The deal you made." Alex said, looking at Dean with sadness in her eyes.
Dean and Sam exchanged concerned looks, before looking back at Alex.
"I'm sorry you had to find out that way." Dean apologized and proceeded to say, "But I'm here right now. So, let's talk about it."
"How come you never told me?" She asked out of curiosity. She wasn't mad, because she had kept things from him and Sam. But a part of her wondered if he was ever going to tell her.
"Because of this. I didn't want you to worry about me, when you were dealing with your step-dad's death. Nobody should have that much dumped on them at once." She had already been through so much, that it pained him to see her go through this.
"But everything is going to be fine." Sam jumped in to reassure Alex that everything would be okay. "I'm gonna find a way to get him out of this."
Dean looked at Sam, knowing that he would stop at nothing to save him. After he had said that, they all went silent for a few minutes.
"Blond." Alex said out of the blue.
Dean and Sam looked at her confused. "What?" Sam asked.
"My original hair color is blond." Alex explained. "I told Dean that I would kill him if I told him, and I'm pretty sure that fighting with him in the hallway is close enough." She chuckled.
"Speaking of which, where did you learn those moves any ways?" Dean asked. "I mean you gave that demon one heck of a beating, and what happened in the hallway was pretty unpleasant." Dean said, recalling when she kicked him between the legs.
Alex smiled. "I took a lot of self defence classes after my dad died. I didn't want to take the chance and end up like him. Besides, he asked me to take care of myself and I couldn't let him down."
"Well, I was impressed." Dean said in all honesty.
"Yeah," Sam agreed. "Definitely money well spent."
"Thanks." She said, "But it was nothing compared to how I saw you fight Danny or the demon... or whatever it was."
Sam laughed. "Don't sell yourself short."
"What? You want her to lie and say that she's tall?" Dean asked with a grin.
"Oh, shut up!" Alex laughed at Dean.
"Hey, you're the one who called us 'abnormally tall', remember?" Dean said, trying to sound offended.
"I was being controlled by a demon. He made me so angry that I couldn't help what I was saying."
Dean was going to say something else, but he was afraid that she would just end up feeling worse again. So, Dean tried another approach. "Alright. What ever you say... Thumbelina."
"Are you serious?" Alex asked in disbelief.
"What? It's a compliment." Dean said in his defence.
Sam looked at him incredulously. "How?"
"Well, she's the lightest person in the world. You know how girls like to be thin and watch their figure." Dean pointed out. "Plus she was probably the nicest person, who cared about others."
"Wow." Alex was impressed at the comparison, then she grinned. "You actually watched Thumbelina?"
"Dude, I was trying to be nice to you."
"I know you were. I'm sorry, it was very nice of you to compare me to a girl the size of a thumb." Alex yawned and looked at the clock. "Whoa. I should probably go back to bed."
"Yeah, it is pretty late... or early? I'm too tired to care at the moment." Sam said with a yawn of his own. "Good night." He gave Alex a hug and sort of limped back to his door.
It was then that Alex remembered that she had stabbed him in the thigh. "Oh my God. Sam, I am so sorry. I forgot. Are you okay?"
Sam looked down at his leg and shrugged it off. "I'm fine. It wasn't that bad." She gave him a look that told him, she knew he was lying. "It wasn't as bad as it could have been. I'll be fine, really. Thanks." He gave her a warm smile and walked into his own room.
As Alex was leaving Dean's room, she turned around looked at him. "I forgive you," She said. "For hitting me."
"Thank you." Dean watched as she walked back down the stairs, then he closed his door.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The next morning Dean and Sam were ready to leave the hotel. They were all packed up this time with a different hunt in mind. They heard about a ghost that murders people on leap year at the Morton House.
They said their goodbyes to Alex, Kyle and Hana, giving either hugs, a hand shake or letting Hana squeeze their giant finger. They could clearly tell that Alex was a little distressed, knowing that this would probably be the last time that she would see them for a long time... if ever.
Sam walked up to the front desk to check them out. Maz was working with a different employee now at the front desk.
"I'm supposed to ask if you enjoyed your stay, but I think we both know that answer." Maz said looking over some papers.
"I've been in worse." Sam said, thinking about the run down houses and abandoned motels that he's stayed in recently. "Trust me."
"You know, I was thinking about changing the name of this place." Maz said thoughtfully. "What do you think of this? Maz's Institution for the Mentally Unbalanced."
Sam thought for a minute and said, "I think you would probably be getting a different line of guests staying here."
Maz just shrugged. "You're all set." He handed Sam his credit card. "And tell your brother I said thank you for pulling me out of the pool."
"Sure thing." Sam walked back over to Dean, Alex, Kyle and Hana. "Ready?"
"Yeah. Goodbye again. And you better take care of her or I will hunt you down." Dean warned Kyle.
"Yes, sir." Kyle smiled.
"Bye" Sam said.
Dean and Sam both waved as they left the building and walked into the cold, snow covered parking lot.
"So," Dean began to say as he started up his car and pulled out of the parking lot. "Tell me about the Morton House again."
They continued their way to the House, where they met up with Ed and Harry again. After that was all said and done, ruining the Ghostfacer's "careers", they headed to Ohio, where they got calls from beyond the grave. Of course it was all just a prank to become soul food for a crocotta. Which, unfortunately wasn't their dad trying to help Dean out of his deal. Things were looking pretty grim for the Winchester brothers as time was running out. But then there was a case that peeked Sam's interests, to Dean's confusion. He didn't find out until he got a call from Bobby on Bela's where-a-bouts, that Sam wanted to get help from Doc Benton, instead of killing him. Sam practically begs him to let the doctor explain what they need to do, to live forever, but Dean doesn't want to live that way. He couldn't stand the thought of living like a monster for eternity, so they buried the doctor alive, chained up in a refrigerator.
Days go by and now Dean only has a few hours to live, seeing demon's true forms and stopping Sam from killing an innocent girl. He eventually realizes that time is up, so he says his last goodbyes to Sam. He apologizes for letting this happen and tells Sam to move on and take care of himself.
The clock strikes midnight and Dean can hear the growls of the hellhounds. He turns to see them staring him down with hunger in their eyes. Sam realizes somethings wrong and asks Dean about it.
"Hellhound." He says at the brink of tears.
Sam asks him where, so he tells him, then they run into a room with Ruby and close the door the door behind them, locking out the hellhounds. As Sam and Ruby are pushing against the hellhounds strength,as Dean pours goofer dust along the the door to lock them out and some more along the windows. Unfortunately They've trapped themselves with Lillith and not Ruby. She has them pinned down, and lets the hellhounds in against Sam's pleas.
Claws rip through his clothes and tears up his chest and legs as Dean struggles against them. He can hear Sam faintly as he screams for help, over the growls of the hellhounds. The pain never stops and he finds himself in a dark, cloudy place with chains going through his right shoulder and stomach. He can feel the pain all throughout him as he screams for Sam's help, and then...
Alex wakes up panting and holding her right shoulder and stomach in pain. "Dean." She whimpers softly and starts to cry out into the early hours of the morning on May 2.

IDENTITY CRISIS CH.26
Alex walked down the isle alone, but she didn't feel like she was. An odd sensation made her look at her left shoulder, it felt like somebody was resting a hand on her shoulder. Then it was gone as soon as it had come. Alex had a feeling she knew what it was, and she did not feel the need to tell Sam or Dean about it.
Once she reached the altar, the minister started saying the vows to Kyle and he said, "I do.", with a warm smile on his face.
As he started finishing up Alex's vows, she started to get a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach. This was supposed to be the happiest day of her life, and she didn't know what was wrong. Everything seemed perfect except for... Alex looked over at the side her family was sitting on. She saw Sam, Dean and Cody all smiling at her, then she looked back up to Kyle. Now she new what was wrong, and everything made sense.
"In sickness and in health, until death do you part?" The minister finished and all eyes were on Alex. Everyone was sitting and waiting for her answer.
"I..." Alex covered her mouth and her eyes started water. She pulled her hands out of Kyle's gentle grip and whispered, "I'm sorry." Alex pulled up part of her dress and ran down the isle, out of the ball room.
Dean and Sam looked at each other in shock, as did everyone else who came to the wedding. People gasped and started to whisper, while Kyle stood in silence.
"Well that was unexpected." Dean said to Sam, then they ran after Alex, to see what was wrong. They bolted through the doors and looked both directions.
Meanwhile; Kyle was standing at the altar, shocked and heartbroken. He thought Alex loved him the way he loved her. He sat down on the floor with a distant look on his face.
Brad sat down next to his brother. "Listen, man. I know Alex wouldn't have done this without a good reason."
"I just thought-" Kyle started to say, but was cut short by Dean.
"Hey! Wait!" Dean yelled, jogging down the isle as people started to leave. "The wedding is still on."
"What?" Kyle asked standing up.
When Dean got up to Kyle, he pulled him to the side. "Alex will probably kill me for telling you this, but I don't really care. You see, she's still feeling ill and, well... she kinda puked in one of the plants in the hallway."
Kyle chuckled a little before asking, "Is she alright?"
"Sam's getting her a glass of water right now." Dean smiled and said, "Yeah, she'll be fine."
A couple minutes later, Alex and Sam came walking back down the isle. Alex was blushing so bad that her face was red, and she gave Kyle an apologetic smile. Once they reached the front, Sam sat back down and the minister asked her the question again.
"I do." Alex smiled and locked eyes with Kyle.
The minister pronounced them husband and wife, and now it was time for the kiss. Alex stepped forward, but her foot got caught on her dress, tripping her. She started to fall side ways, but Kyle caught her and bent down for a kiss as she held onto his shoulders. The pose looked like a dip from a dance, but unlike a dance, this wasn't planned. Any other time Alex would have been embarrassed, but this turned out to be a happy accident.
The rest of the day went smoothly and everyone had a good time. When it came time for their first dance as a married couple, Alex had to say something to Kyle.
"Hey, Kyle?" She asked with her head resting against his chest, feeling his chin resting on her head.
"Yeah?"
"Thank you for this." Alex said, admiring the set up. "This is all just amazing. I haven't had a relaxing day like this in a long time."
"Well you deserved it. Believe me, you do." Kyle got a distant look on his face. Her curse had caused her so much pain and she almost twisted her ankle if he wasn't there. At least now he would always be there for her and help protect her from the curse. She deserved to be happy once in a while.
"I didn't mean to scare you before." Alex broke the silence.
Kyle laughed and pulled away, to look her in the eyes, but they still kept dancing. "Eh, don't worry about it. It was better than having you throw up on me." They both laughed and continued to dance.
After their dance was over, it was time for the father and daughter dance. Kyle forgot to mention to the DJ that Alex didn't have a father, so all eyes were on her. Dean and Sam both looked at each other and back to Alex. She looked over to Sam and then to Dean... and that's when it hit home. At that moment, Alex realized that her family missed out on the most important events in her life.
Before she could turn around, Dean quickly walked up to her and grabbed her arms, leading her onto the dance floor. His hands were lightly wrapped around her wrists, which were still tapped up. There was some blue ribbon that matched her dress, that was lightly wrapped on top of the bandages. He didn't have to ask her about it, because he knew that this was her way of trying to forget about what happened just for this night.
The music started to play and Dean and Alex started to slow dance. Dean's left hand was on her side, while his right hand gripped her other hand that wasn't resting on his shoulder.
"I hope you don't mind that I'm dancing with you." Dean began to say. "I mean, you looked a little lost."
"No, it's fine." Alex nearly whispered. "I do wish it was my dad instead though...Not my step-dad, my real dad."
Hearing Alex talk about her father took Dean be surprise. She never mentioned him after the accident. He didn't want to push her, but since she brought it up, he figured that he would try to get her to talk some more.
"Anything wrong with your step-dad?"
"No. We just didn't really know each other too well. We were both really busy and then when my mother died, it was like he was trying really hard to be there."
"What about you?" Dean asked.
"I don't know. I mean, he wasn't my birth father, so we didn't really have that kind of connection. I just felt like I was adopted, you know?" Alex looked up at Dean who was listening to every word she said, with interest. "But there was nothing I could do about that. Life's not perfect, right?"
"Yeah." Dean sighed and they were quiet for a while.
"Dean?" Alex asked as a few other people started dance. "Is it true? Do you really have only three months left?"
Alex looked up at Dean and he paused for a minute before he looked at her. "Hey. This night is supposed to be about you, remember? Let's not make this a sappy moment about me, okay?" Dean smiled, then continued to dance with her. By this time, more people had come onto the dance floor and started dancing. "Looks like Cody is having a good time."
Alex turned around and saw Sam and Cody dancing together. "Oh yeah." Alex laughed and went back to dancing with Dean.
"So...Is there going to be cake?" Dean asked looking around at the desert table. "I noticed there weren't any sandwiches..."
Alex laughed and said, "Yes, there is cake and pie too. Sam told me how much you like pie." She looked around and found Kyle dancing with his grandmother, Anna. She had tears in her eyes and could barely dance, because she was so happy for her grandson. Then she found Brad dancing with Hana in his arms, which was just too cute for words.
The wedding ended at midnight and Sam and Dean were in their rooms, taking off their suits.
"So, she actually talked to you about her dad?" Sam asked through the connecting door, as he took off his tie.
Dean grabbed a change of clothes for the night. "Yeah. It wasn't much, but it was something."
Sam un-tucked his shirt and started looking in his bag. "Do you think it might have something to do with the demon controlling her emotions?"
"I don't know. I think it was just the dance." Dean took off his white buttoned up shirt and pulled on a grey t-shirt. "Hey, what was that thing any ways?"
"It's a Gaap, I looked it up online while you were in the hospital. They sometimes appear as doctors, which makes sense. I'm guessing that when we had Hana looked at after her birth, that's when he got to Alex."
After Dean was changed he had to ask Sam one more question before they went to sleep. "Hey, Sam? Do you think Alex will ever forgive me?" The light in the next room turned off and Dean sighed, "Yeah."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Three hours later, Kyle woke up and checked the clock. He groaned and rolled over to face Alex, but she wasn't there. He sat up and looked over by the bathroom door and saw a light on.
"Alex, you okay?" He waited, but silence was his only answer. "Alex?" Kyle pulled back the covers and got out of bed. On his way to the bathroom, he checked up on his sleeping daughter.
Kyle stepped in front of the bathroom door and slowly pushed it open. At first he didn't see Alex in there, then he saw movement under the sink counter top. "Hey, there you are. What are doing under there?" Kyle asked her in the most gentle manor that he could. He slowly walked over to her and knelt down on his knees in front of her.
She had her face buried into her folded arms, which were resting on her knees, as she quietly cried. She didn't even look up when he came over to her.
Kyle lightly placed his hand on her arm. "What's wrong, Alex?"
"I...I'm s-sorry." She whimpered as she slowly lifted up her head.
"Come here." Kyle gently grabbed Alex's waist and pulled her close to him. He placed her folded arms up and over his head and gave her a hug. She was crying into his shoulder, while he was rubbing her back. "Shh. It's alright, I got you."
"I had a nightmare."
"Its okay. Its all over now. You have nothing to worry about." Kyle continued rubbing her back, trying to comfort her. "Do you want to talk about it?"
At first Alex didn't say anything, then she whispered to him, "I died, Kyle. I got shot in the chest and I died."
"You're safe now. I'll protect you, Alex." He assured her with a tight hug.
Alex let out a small laugh through her cries. "You should be comforting your daughter when she has nightmares, not your wife."
"Well, I can't just leave you all alone. It pains me to see you like this. I'm gonna do whatever I can to see that warm smile light up your face again."
"I love you." Alex whispered squeezing her arms tighter around Kyle.
"I love you too." He said right before he kissed the top of her head. "Are you ready to go back to bed?"
"Not yet." She pulled out of the hug and looked him in the eyes. "I need to talk to Sam and Dean."
"Alex, you do realize what time it is, right?" Kyle looked at her with his eyebrows raised. "Can't this wait until the morning?"
"I've already waited too long, Kyle."

IDENTITY CRISIS CH.25
The doctors had finished checking up on Dean and Alex, and now they were ready to leave. Dean was waiting patiently on his bed for Alex to finish up in the bathroom. He heard the sink turn off then the door knob start to turn open, so he climbed out of bed. Just as he reached the door, he heard the toilet seat flip open and the sound of Alex's breakfast coming back up.
"Alex? You okay in there?" Dean grimaced at the noise when he heard it again.
After a few minutes, the door finally opened. Alex's face was all wet and a few strands of hair were stuck to her head. He guessed that she had washed off her face. "I told you that hospital food is terrible." Alex said as she walked out of the bathroom.
Dean shrugged, "I didn't think it was that bad." He then walked into the bathroom and closed the door.
The doctor said that Alex was no longer contagious, but her stomach was still a little queasy. The fact that her breakfast tasted like it was microwaved straight from the freezer and her orange juice was on the bitter side, did not help her feel better at all. It was just the thought of it that made her puke in the first place. At least now it was out of her system, but then again she did have to taste it again in worse state.
As Alex was sitting on her bed, she heard a knock on the door. Sam poked his head through the door and came into the room. "Good morning. How're you feeling?" He walked into the room carrying Hana in his arms.
"It would have been better if I skipped breakfast." Alex said with small smile. "Have you seen Kyle yet?"
"No. Do you want me to go get him?" Sam offered, pointing his thumb towards the door behind him.
Alex thought about it and sighed. "No. That's okay. Thanks any ways."
Sam nodded his head as he sat down across from her on Dean's bed with Hana cradled in his arms. She was trying to stretch up and pull his hair, but her arms were too short to reach. So to make up for it, Sam started to tickle her causing her to giggle.
A smiled spread across Alex's face as she watched Sam play with her daughter. "Sam?" Alex asked hesitantly. "Why did Kyle tell you guys to come here?"
"Hey! Who told you?" Kyle asked as he walked into the room with his arms across his chest. He was dressed in a pair of jeans and a long grey shirt with a black short sleeved shirt on top. His short black hair was in a spiked mess like it usually was. "It's supposed to be a surprise. How did you find out?" Kyle said as he walked over by Sam and Alex.
"She doesn't know anything. Don't worry." Dean said as he walked out of the bathroom.
"Wait. What's going on?" Sam asked, looking from Kyle to Dean.
Kyle smiled and looked down at his sneakers before he looked up at Alex. "I have a surprise for you back at the hotel. Come on." He held out his hand for Alex and pulled her off of the bed.
They all left the hospital, driving in the Impala on the way back to the hotel. Dean parked the car next to the Kyle's jeep. The car had minimal damage to the front end, but most of it was on the bumper. When they got out of the car, Kyle had tucked Hana inside of his jacket to keep her warm as he carried her to the front doors. Sam held one of the glass doors open for everyone and followed Dean into the main lobby.
Cops were still investigating the many crime scenes in the hotel, while a few of them talked to Maz. He gave Sam and Dean a friendly wave as they came in. It was obvious that he was annoyed by all of the questioning from the officers by the look on his face. And Dean was pretty sure that he heard him crack some sarcastic comment about how he had to pay less people this week, since he lost two of them.
Other then the police men and a few hotel employees, there was a small group of people sitting by the fire place, who all got up when they entered the hotel. Sam was confused, because they started walking towards them, but Dean and Kyle knew exactly who they were. There was only one person that Sam recognized out of the group of three, and that was Cody.
"Uh, what's going on?" Sam asked Dean, but got ignored as they saw Alex hug Cody, an elderly woman and a man that was a little younger then Kyle. His hair was brown and he had a few similar features as Kyle did, but he was slightly shorter.
"Sam, this is my brother, Brad. Brad, these are Alex's cousins, Sam and Dean." Kyle said pointing from the young man to Sam and Dean.
"Hi." Brad said holding out his hand.
Sam smiled and shook his hand. "Hi."
"And this is my grandma, Anna." The woman was shorter then Alex and actually made her look tall. She had to crane her neck back to meet Sam's face.
"Um, Kyle?" Alex said turning to him and Hana. "What's up with the little family reunion?"
Kyle let out a laugh and Dean couldn't stop smiling. "Well...I thought it would only be appropriate that they were here. Besides I also figured you wanted to share the happiest day of your life with them."
"Wait...What?" Alex's eyes went wide with shock and she cracked a smile. "Oh my God."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The next morning Alex was in the bathroom getting ready for the big day, but she was having trouble with the zipper on her dress.
There was a knock on the wooden door before Kyle spoke up. "Alex, are you almost done? 'Cause I need to get in there."
"Not yet." Alex turned her back towards the mirror and tried reaching the zipper over her shoulder.
"Well can I at least get in there?" Kyle said before he mumbled to himself, "I'm not sure how to tie my tie.", as he flipped the tie from one side to the other, crossing and uncrossing the two sides.
"No, you can't see me in the dress before the ceremony." Alex walked over to the door and folded her arms.
Kyle smiled and leaned against the door frame. "No offence, Alex, but we haven't exactly been following the rules on this one."
"I still want you to be surprised."
"You know, if you're worried about me seeing you in the dress, you could always..." Kyle trailed off when he saw Sam and Dean walk into the room dressed in black suits.
"Before you guys get further into this lovely conversation," Dean said as he walked into the room with Sam. "I need to talk to you about something."
"Uh. Sure." Kyle said as he stood straight up and followed Dean out of the room.
"Alex you need help in there?" Sam asked outside her door.
"Yes." Alex groaned.
"Um, is this something that Cody could help you with?" Sam asked, not knowing what it was exactly that she was having problems with. He didn't want to accidentally open the door and have an awkward moment.
Alex opened the door. "Yes, but you are right here." Sam looked at Alex standing in a long pale blue dress. The long flowing sleeves hung off her shoulders and flared before they reached her wrists, matching the flow of the dress itself. "I need somebody to zip me up." She said turning around and pointing to her zipper. "You mind?"
"No, not all." Sam said then he started pull her zipper up. He stopped when the zipper reached her scar, the main cause of her curse. This was the first time that he had ever really gotten a good look at it.
"Something wrong?" Alex questioned when she didn't feel the zipper moving up.
Sam looked at the scar for a second longer. "The zipper got stuck. I think I got it now." Sam lied as he pulled the zipper over her scar and up to the top of her dress.
Alex turned around and faced Sam. "So? How do I look?" Alex held out her arms to give him a better look at the dress. When she looked at Sam, she couldn't read his face. It was hard to tell what he thought. "What's wrong?" She asked, worried that something was wrong with the dress.
"Oh, nothing. It's just that..." Sam looked at the dress and waved his hand towards it.
Looking down at her dress, Alex checked for a stain or a rip. "Just what?"
"Well, I've never seen you in a dress before." Sam explained with a smile and said, "You look beautiful, Alex."
"Thank you. You don't look too bad yourself." Alex replied admiring Sam's black suit and tie. "Hey, where's Cody?"
"Last I saw her, she was with Kyle's grandma, Brad, and Hana." Sam informed her. "Do you want me to get her?"
"Yeah. I need her help with my hair and make up. In case you haven't noticed, I don't really wear make up."
Sam and Alex laughed a little before he agreed to go and find Cody.
Meanwhile; Dean lead Kyle to his bedroom so they could have a chat.
"Are you going to give me the big brother speech, since Alex doesn't have a brother?" Kyle asked as he walked into the bedroom behind Dean.
"No." Dean said with a straight face, which made Kyle sit down in a chair. For some reason, Kyle had a bad feeling about this. "I wanted to know what you were thinking, when you left Alex here all alone, pregnant, and cursed! You told us that you would never leave her, even for work! And right when we show up, we find out that you're out on a job?! Did she tell you why she was in the hospital?"
"No." Kyle was now worried and had no clue on what Dean was getting at.
"First she was attacked by some goddess, then a demon controlled her emotions and made her kill people! Hell, I almost-" Dean stopped himself. He sighed and looked at the floor, before he took a good long look at Kyle. "When somebody has a curse on them that just happens to be a magnet for evil, you don't leave them alone! Especially when that person is pregnant!" Dean's voice elevated to yelling and Kyle stood up in defence.
"Whoa! Just calm down alright!" Kyle yelled back at Dean. "I didn't leave her alone intentionally. I called Brad up and told him to get his a** over here as soon as could. Don't blame me, I nearly got killed trying to get back to her!" Kyle had his hand balled up into a fist from his anger.
"Whoa. Am I interrupting something?" Brad asked as he walked through the open door.
"You son of-!" Kyle said as walked over to his brother and pushed him into the wall.
"Whoa! Hey, don't finish that sentence. We have the same mother, dude." Brad said holding up his hands in surrender.
Kyle gripped the collar of Brad's suit tight in his fists. "I could strangle you right now, you know that!"
"Man, where's Grandma when I need her?"
"I'm serious! What took you so long to get here?" Kyle shook Brad a little in his grip. "Alex was attacked while you were gone and ended up being hospitalized!"
"Um, in case you didn't notice, but there was a huge storm and all of the flights were cancelled." Brad explained to his older brother. "Look. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to leave her alone. I got here as soon as I could." Kyle finally let go of his brother and backed off, but he was still upset. "Alex is like a sister to me, I would never put her life danger. You know that."
Dean was now a little less stressed at Kyle, because he saw the anger he had for his brother over the same thing that Dean was mad at him for. "Brad what did you want, any ways?"
"I was just letting you know that everything is set and ready." Brad said. "So, are you ready to start off the first day of the rest of your life?" Brad asked with a smile.
"Yes." Kyle then smirked and added, "But after words? I'm telling Grandma what you did."

IDENTITY CRISIS CH.24
The nurse was reattaching Dean's IV to his left wrist this time, with even more tape then before to hold it in place. Since Dean was alone with the nurse, and Sam had left to find Alex, he figured he would try working his Dean Winchester magic on her. Sure enough, his plan was working better then expected. He had told the nurse that he saved somebody drowning in a pool, which is how he got hypothermia. To her, he was a hero who cared about his family, which was true. Those little facts made it even better. Because for once, he wasn't lying to get a woman's phone number...Which he did.
While Dean was hooking up with the nurse, Sam was walking down the hallway towards the nursery. When he had arrived, he was surprised that Hana was nowhere to be seen. He headed back to his room to see if Alex was there, but he doubted she would.
"Have you seen Alex?" Sam asked upon entering the room. He noticed the young and attractive nurse was gone, but her perfume still lingered in the air.
"Not since the exorcism." Dean said as he placed a small piece of paper on the table sitting next to his bed.
Sam sighed and looked back out of the door. "She wasn't in the nursery and neither was Hana."
Dean shrugged, "Maybe she went for a walk?"
"With an IV in her wrist? And a stomach flu?" Sam crossed his arms.
"Good point. You know, I would help you look for her but..." Dean held up his left wrist and acted like he wished he could help.
Catching on to his brother's act, Sam shook his and looked around the hallway again. This time he stayed around Dean's door in case Alex would come back. He turned around to check the other rooms, but bumped into somebody. "Sorry." Sam said with a fake smile, because he was still worried about where Alex disappeared to. Once he looked into those brown eyes, something familiar clicked in his brain.
"Oh, don't worry about it. I really should have watched where I was...Do I know you?" She asked getting a better look at his face, as did Sam to her.
"Luisa, right?" Sam asked remembering the run in they had about eight months ago on June ninth. The only reason he remembered, was that was the day he saved Alex from Danny. Not only that, it was the day before her birthday, which was when her curse had started becoming worse.
"Yeah." She nodded her head smiling. "Wow! Sam, I thought I would never see you again!" Luisa said with a laugh. "What are you doing here?"
"My cousin and brother are here actually."
"Oh yeah! Wasn't your cousin having a hard time last year or something?"
Sam was shocked at her memory. "Wow. You actually remembered that?"
"Yeah! I just remembered how sweet that was and hoped that everything was okay. I don't really meet a lot people now-a-days. Especially cute, single guys that care." Luisa quickly realized what she said and changed the subject. "So, how is she?"
"She's fine...except she's here." Sam said trying to get his wording right. "So what are you in here for?"
"I was in a car accident." She held up her broken arm that was resting in a sling. "A guy gave me a ride and the weather was just awful, we hit a car head on."
Sam's eyes widened. "How's the guy?"
"He's fine, but he has a concussion." Luisa explained.
Their little reunion was interrupted when Dean came out of his room. "Any luck?" Dean asked with a smirk on his face.
Not even realizing what Dean was implying, Sam sighed. "No."
"That's not what I was talking about."
Sam turned to Dean with a confused expression, which faded away when he realized what Dean meant. "Shouldn't you be lying down in bed?"
Dean smiled and leaned against the door frame. "Shouldn't you be looking for our cousin and her baby?" Dean looked at Luisa and smiled. "Are you going to introduce me to your friend, Sam?" Dean extended his hand to shake and Luisa excepted. "I'm Dean, the older brother."
"Luisa. Hi." She smiled.
"We met at a gas station in Wisconsin last summer." Sam explained. "It was when I went to find Alex after she was kidnapped by Danny."
"Who's Danny?" Luisa asked curiously.
"It's a long story." Dean told her. "So let me get this straight. When you should have been saving your cousin, you were out flirting with girls?"
"I was filling up the truck with gas. What was I supposed to do, walk?"
Dean was about to retort back when they both heard a beep come from Luisa's pocket. She quickly pulled out her phone to see who left her a text message.
"Oh no." Luisa snapped shut her flip phone and quickly shoved it back into her pocket, faster then she pulled it out.
"Is something wrong?" Sam noted the scared look on her face and started to get concerned.
"No! I mean, no. It's nothing, just a little family drama." Luisa looked around and started to get a little jumpy. "Listen, Sam. I don't mean to cut this short or anything, but I really have to get going."
"Luisa, are you sure everything is okay?" Sam started digging in his pockets for something.
"I'll be fine. Really." Luisa confirmed with a lack of confidence.
Sam was reluctant about her statement, but there was really nothing her could do to stop her. "All right. Here." Sam said as he handed her a piece of paper that he just wrote his number on. "Call me if you ever need anything."
"Thanks." Luisa pocketed the slip of paper and started to walk away. "Hey!" Luisa started walking back to them. "Could you do me a favor?"
"Uh, sure."
"If you by any chance see a guy named Kyle, could you tell him I said thank you." Luisa asked, looking into Sam's eyes. "And give this to him?" She held out a small, brown teddy bear. "It's for his daughter, Hana."
Sam simply nodded his head in shock that she knew Kyle. "Sure."
"Thanks. Bye."
Before he could ask her any more questions, she was already down the hallway.
"What do you think that was all about?" Dean asked as he stepped up, next to his brother.
Sam kept his gaze at the end of the hallway. "I'm not sure."
"She looked pretty freaked out. I hope she's going to be okay." Dean walked back into his room and on to his bed.
Sam looked down at the teddy bear in his hands and sighed. "Me too."
Some time later that night, Kyle had walked Alex back to her room and handed Hana off to Sam. He had asked that Sam take care of her for the night, instead of her being in the hands of a stranger. So Sam had taken Hana back to the hotel with him, while Kyle went back to his room leaving Alex and Dean alone. Hours past with silence and eventually Alex fell asleep. Dean on the other hand was wide awake feeling guilty for what he had put her through. He couldn't just fall asleep knowing that she was upset with him. It's not like he intentionally wanted to hurt her. He was just trying to hurt what he thought was a shapeshifter that was trying to hurt her.
He glanced over at her sleeping form and knew he had to wake her up. Part of him felt guilty for doing it, but he had to get it off his chest and let her know how he felt.
Letting a out a heavy sigh, Dean pulled himself up into a sitting position and slid his legs over the edge of the bed. Once his feet hit the cool tile of the hospital room floor, he knew there was no turning back. He stood up and slowly walked over to her bedside in the shadow covered room. The moonlight reflected off of her face, making her look almost like porcelain doll. Dean sat down on the side of her bed and rested his hand on her shoulder and gently shook her awake. "Alex?" He heard her moan as she turned her head towards the window. "Alex, wake up."
Finally opening her eyes, Alex rolled over to face him. "Dean? What time is it?" Squinting her eyes, Alex tried to read the time on the clock that hung on wall.
Dean glanced at the clock, but it was too dark to read. "I honestly have no idea." Dean admitted and saw that Alex was waiting for him to explain why he woke her up. "I wanted to talk to you about something." He paused while he gathered up his thoughts in order. "Back at the hotel I know I scared cr*p out of you. I want you to understand that I never would hurt you intentionally."
"But you did." Alex whispered, almost afraid that he would hit her again.
It pained Dean to hear those words, but then he realized that she didn't know about the misunderstanding. Sure they had taught her about demons and spirits, but they didn't really go into detail about all of the other supernatural creatures that lurked in the shadows and dark corners of the world. When it came to hunting, Alex knew very little. The reason they didn't tell her much was the fact that she has a normal life. She is not a hunter and never wanted to be apart of this life, she was just forced to know about it. In a way she reminded Dean of Sam, when he had gone off to Stanford.
"When I hit you, I thought you were this creature called a shapeshifter. They can transform themselves to look like anyone, and it's not easy to tell them apart from the person who's identity is stolen. The only way you can tell is if their eyes flash this white flare, which can be easily seen through a camera." Dean explained to Alex, trying to see if she understood what he was saying. "I was just worried that you were either tied up somewhere while a monster took your place, or that you were dead. I never thought it was you. Do you understand?" He asked tentatively.
Alex nodded her head without looking at him and said, "Yes."
Dean was relieved to hear that and only hoped that she would except what he said next. "Hey, listen. Alex, I never got the chance to tell you, with all that has happened in the past twenty-four hours, but I'm sorry." There was a silence that started to make Dean nervous, but then Alex said something that made his eyes go wide with confusion.
"Don't apologize to me, Dean. I don't deserve it." Alex looked up at Dean with a plan expression on her face.
"What are you talking about? Of course I should. Have you looked at your face lately? It's not a pretty site." Dean could not understand why Alex was saying this. He hit her nine times and few of them knocked her unconscious.
"Good." Alex said with boldness in her voice.
Dean started to wonder what was going on with Alex and why she was acting this way. "No, its not good, Alex. I was about to kill you."
"And you should have."
Dean was shocked and taken aback. "Whoa! What?!" He couldn't believe what he was hearing. 'It has to be the medication.', he thought. Could she really feel that low about herself, even after she had a baby? Maybe he should tell her the real reason why they were at the same hotel. But he made a promise and he wouldn't break it.
"You should have killed me. I murdered people and I enjoyed it." Alex looked out the window as her eyes glistened and started to well up with tears. "I'm a horrible person."
Dean let out a sigh and closed his eyes in anger, not towards her, but towards the demon that did this to her. "Alex, It wasn't your fault. I don't blame you. You weren't yourself."
"No?" Alex said looking at Dean. "I killed those people, Dean. My emotions were being controlled. I had a choice. Sure, Morana told me who to kill, but nobody told me how to kill them."
"So what? You're a serial killer now?" Dean watched as Alex looked away from him. "That's not you, Alex. You're not like that. I've seen the way you treat Hana, and I gotta tell you, that does not scream: cold-hearted b*tch to me."
"I'm not so sure any more."
"And I blame the demon for that. That's what they do; mess with your mind and question your way of life. You can not take what they say as the truth." Dean watched Alex sit there in silence. "Are you going to be okay?"
"I don't know." Alex whispered as a tear fell down her face. As Dean placed a comforting hand on hers, she pulled it away. Watching her hand slide away, slowly out from underneath his made Dean feel terrible. He looked at her face, but she didn't look at him. Things were never going to be the same between them, and he knew it.
"I just need some time to deal with this."
Dean nodded his head and stood up. "All right." He was going to walk over to his bed, but stopped. "Hey, Alex? I can't tell you the reason why, but it wasn't just a coincidence that we ended up at the same hotel. Kyle told me to come here." Dean smiled as Alex gave him a questioning look. "Good night." Okay, so he hinted that something was going on, but he never broke the promise.
