The wedding was held in the hotel's ball room. Since there was only a few people who attended, they decided to make it an open wedding so anyone could come. Maz and most of his employees came to the wedding, mainly to get out of work.
Alex walked down the isle alone, but she didn't feel like she was. An odd sensation made her look at her left shoulder, it felt like somebody was resting a hand on her shoulder. Then it was gone as soon as it had come. Alex had a feeling she knew what it was, and she did not feel the need to tell Sam or Dean about it.
Once she reached the altar, the minister started saying the vows to Kyle and he said, "I do.", with a warm smile on his face.
As he started finishing up Alex's vows, she started to get a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach. This was supposed to be the happiest day of her life, and she didn't know what was wrong. Everything seemed perfect except for... Alex looked over at the side her family was sitting on. She saw Sam, Dean and Cody all smiling at her, then she looked back up to Kyle. Now she new what was wrong, and everything made sense.
"In sickness and in health, until death do you part?" The minister finished and all eyes were on Alex. Everyone was sitting and waiting for her answer.
"I..." Alex covered her mouth and her eyes started water. She pulled her hands out of Kyle's gentle grip and whispered, "I'm sorry." Alex pulled up part of her dress and ran down the isle, out of the ball room.
Dean and Sam looked at each other in shock, as did everyone else who came to the wedding. People gasped and started to whisper, while Kyle stood in silence.
"Well that was unexpected." Dean said to Sam, then they ran after Alex, to see what was wrong. They bolted through the doors and looked both directions.
Meanwhile; Kyle was standing at the altar, shocked and heartbroken. He thought Alex loved him the way he loved her. He sat down on the floor with a distant look on his face.
Brad sat down next to his brother. "Listen, man. I know Alex wouldn't have done this without a good reason."
"I just thought-" Kyle started to say, but was cut short by Dean.
"Hey! Wait!" Dean yelled, jogging down the isle as people started to leave. "The wedding is still on."
"What?" Kyle asked standing up.
When Dean got up to Kyle, he pulled him to the side. "Alex will probably kill me for telling you this, but I don't really care. You see, she's still feeling ill and, well... she kinda puked in one of the plants in the hallway."
Kyle chuckled a little before asking, "Is she alright?"
"Sam's getting her a glass of water right now." Dean smiled and said, "Yeah, she'll be fine."
A couple minutes later, Alex and Sam came walking back down the isle. Alex was blushing so bad that her face was red, and she gave Kyle an apologetic smile. Once they reached the front, Sam sat back down and the minister asked her the question again.
"I do." Alex smiled and locked eyes with Kyle.
The minister pronounced them husband and wife, and now it was time for the kiss. Alex stepped forward, but her foot got caught on her dress, tripping her. She started to fall side ways, but Kyle caught her and bent down for a kiss as she held onto his shoulders. The pose looked like a dip from a dance, but unlike a dance, this wasn't planned. Any other time Alex would have been embarrassed, but this turned out to be a happy accident.
The rest of the day went smoothly and everyone had a good time. When it came time for their first dance as a married couple, Alex had to say something to Kyle.
"Hey, Kyle?" She asked with her head resting against his chest, feeling his chin resting on her head.
"Yeah?"
"Thank you for this." Alex said, admiring the set up. "This is all just amazing. I haven't had a relaxing day like this in a long time."
"Well you deserved it. Believe me, you do." Kyle got a distant look on his face. Her curse had caused her so much pain and she almost twisted her ankle if he wasn't there. At least now he would always be there for her and help protect her from the curse. She deserved to be happy once in a while.
"I didn't mean to scare you before." Alex broke the silence.
Kyle laughed and pulled away, to look her in the eyes, but they still kept dancing. "Eh, don't worry about it. It was better than having you throw up on me." They both laughed and continued to dance.
After their dance was over, it was time for the father and daughter dance. Kyle forgot to mention to the DJ that Alex didn't have a father, so all eyes were on her. Dean and Sam both looked at each other and back to Alex. She looked over to Sam and then to Dean... and that's when it hit home. At that moment, Alex realized that her family missed out on the most important events in her life.
Before she could turn around, Dean quickly walked up to her and grabbed her arms, leading her onto the dance floor. His hands were lightly wrapped around her wrists, which were still tapped up. There was some blue ribbon that matched her dress, that was lightly wrapped on top of the bandages. He didn't have to ask her about it, because he knew that this was her way of trying to forget about what happened just for this night.
The music started to play and Dean and Alex started to slow dance. Dean's left hand was on her side, while his right hand gripped her other hand that wasn't resting on his shoulder.
"I hope you don't mind that I'm dancing with you." Dean began to say. "I mean, you looked a little lost."
"No, it's fine." Alex nearly whispered. "I do wish it was my dad instead though...Not my step-dad, my real dad."
Hearing Alex talk about her father took Dean be surprise. She never mentioned him after the accident. He didn't want to push her, but since she brought it up, he figured that he would try to get her to talk some more.
"Anything wrong with your step-dad?"
"No. We just didn't really know each other too well. We were both really busy and then when my mother died, it was like he was trying really hard to be there."
"What about you?" Dean asked.
"I don't know. I mean, he wasn't my birth father, so we didn't really have that kind of connection. I just felt like I was adopted, you know?" Alex looked up at Dean who was listening to every word she said, with interest. "But there was nothing I could do about that. Life's not perfect, right?"
"Yeah." Dean sighed and they were quiet for a while.
"Dean?" Alex asked as a few other people started dance. "Is it true? Do you really have only three months left?"
Alex looked up at Dean and he paused for a minute before he looked at her. "Hey. This night is supposed to be about you, remember? Let's not make this a sappy moment about me, okay?" Dean smiled, then continued to dance with her. By this time, more people had come onto the dance floor and started dancing. "Looks like Cody is having a good time."
Alex turned around and saw Sam and Cody dancing together. "Oh yeah." Alex laughed and went back to dancing with Dean.
"So...Is there going to be cake?" Dean asked looking around at the desert table. "I noticed there weren't any sandwiches..."
Alex laughed and said, "Yes, there is cake and pie too. Sam told me how much you like pie." She looked around and found Kyle dancing with his grandmother, Anna. She had tears in her eyes and could barely dance, because she was so happy for her grandson. Then she found Brad dancing with Hana in his arms, which was just too cute for words.
The wedding ended at midnight and Sam and Dean were in their rooms, taking off their suits.
"So, she actually talked to you about her dad?" Sam asked through the connecting door, as he took off his tie.
Dean grabbed a change of clothes for the night. "Yeah. It wasn't much, but it was something."
Sam un-tucked his shirt and started looking in his bag. "Do you think it might have something to do with the demon controlling her emotions?"
"I don't know. I think it was just the dance." Dean took off his white buttoned up shirt and pulled on a grey t-shirt. "Hey, what was that thing any ways?"
"It's a Gaap, I looked it up online while you were in the hospital. They sometimes appear as doctors, which makes sense. I'm guessing that when we had Hana looked at after her birth, that's when he got to Alex."
After Dean was changed he had to ask Sam one more question before they went to sleep. "Hey, Sam? Do you think Alex will ever forgive me?" The light in the next room turned off and Dean sighed, "Yeah."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Three hours later, Kyle woke up and checked the clock. He groaned and rolled over to face Alex, but she wasn't there. He sat up and looked over by the bathroom door and saw a light on.
"Alex, you okay?" He waited, but silence was his only answer. "Alex?" Kyle pulled back the covers and got out of bed. On his way to the bathroom, he checked up on his sleeping daughter.
Kyle stepped in front of the bathroom door and slowly pushed it open. At first he didn't see Alex in there, then he saw movement under the sink counter top. "Hey, there you are. What are doing under there?" Kyle asked her in the most gentle manor that he could. He slowly walked over to her and knelt down on his knees in front of her.
She had her face buried into her folded arms, which were resting on her knees, as she quietly cried. She didn't even look up when he came over to her.
Kyle lightly placed his hand on her arm. "What's wrong, Alex?"
"I...I'm s-sorry." She whimpered as she slowly lifted up her head.
"Come here." Kyle gently grabbed Alex's waist and pulled her close to him. He placed her folded arms up and over his head and gave her a hug. She was crying into his shoulder, while he was rubbing her back. "Shh. It's alright, I got you."
"I had a nightmare."
"Its okay. Its all over now. You have nothing to worry about." Kyle continued rubbing her back, trying to comfort her. "Do you want to talk about it?"
At first Alex didn't say anything, then she whispered to him, "I died, Kyle. I got shot in the chest and I died."
"You're safe now. I'll protect you, Alex." He assured her with a tight hug.
Alex let out a small laugh through her cries. "You should be comforting your daughter when she has nightmares, not your wife."
"Well, I can't just leave you all alone. It pains me to see you like this. I'm gonna do whatever I can to see that warm smile light up your face again."
"I love you." Alex whispered squeezing her arms tighter around Kyle.
"I love you too." He said right before he kissed the top of her head. "Are you ready to go back to bed?"
"Not yet." She pulled out of the hug and looked him in the eyes. "I need to talk to Sam and Dean."
"Alex, you do realize what time it is, right?" Kyle looked at her with his eyebrows raised. "Can't this wait until the morning?"
"I've already waited too long, Kyle."
